Hello, I have a problem with the keyboard that the LEDs are lit and none of the keys work (there is no reaction when pressing them). The keyboard uses a standard plug (not USB). I will also add that when I connected another keyboard, it worked properly.
The failure happened overnight, when I turned on the computer it just didn`t work anymore.

What is wrong? I unscrewed it and I see that no cables are broken.

    Regards

Your wife cleaned the keyboard and now she won`t admit it... Sometimes, lightly pulling the keyboard towards you breaks the wire inside the cable and that`s it... Check the continuity of the wires with a meter...

I just want to change the cable to a new one (i.e. to an old one, because it comes from an old mouse) because this seems to be the most probable problem (damage to the cable or plug).

Added after 1 [hour] 6 [minutes]:

ok, I checked the keyboard with a meter. Is it normal that when the cable comes into contact with three different pins of the plug, the voltmeter "squeaks" (of course, not all at once, but one after the other)? I will add that when any cable touches these three pins, it "squeaks".

Will a mouse cable be good for a keyboard?

The voltmeter never beeps - it only shows the voltage value in Volts! The most reliable test result will be obtained by disconnecting the cable from the keyboard and only testing it if you do not know the rules for using an ohmmeter and/or buzzer and if you do not know what they are supposed to signal and when! And I have this impression, since you`re still asking...
The best advice for you will be: buy a new keyboard, it only costs PLN 20...

Hello, go to the device manager or the Keyboard in the control panel and check if any hardware is displayed, if not, it`s the system`s fault, the keyboard driver crashed when turning off the computer, resetting, or maybe it was the power plant`s fault - they disconnected the electricity during operation. You will have to reinstall Windows, because looking for a driver that Windows does not call anyway is a tedious and time-consuming job, which I know from experience, I had a computer with a similar problem.

I understand that the keyboard works in the BIOS menu?

    EDIT:
I haven`t read anything else that works, it looks like the system is OK.
But was it USB or plug-in?
Sometimes the pins in the plug bend.
