Mondeo MK4 Kombi Left Position Lights & Cabin Light Issue - Electrical Fault?

How do I diagnose a Mondeo MK4 estate with no left position lights/rear left lamp and a cabin light that won’t turn off in door-sensor mode, when the bulbs and visible fuses seem OK?

The left position lights are likely fed through the interior fuse box from the engine-compartment relay/fuse box, via the main 60A fuses F17 and F18, so those supply fuses and the associated wiring should be checked first [#9438065] The left rear position lamp is said to be on line 50 with a purple-green wire, and the left front position lamp on line 39 with a yellow-blue wire [#9438065] If the fuses and wiring check out, the issue may be in the module/control side, and a reset has helped some owners; disconnecting the battery terminal for about 15–20 seconds was reported to restore the lights [#10218603][#10384853][#10900207] Keep the radio code handy before doing the battery reset [#10384853][#10900207] If the problem is specifically in the tailgate rear lamps, also inspect the cable transition between the body and the tailgate for broken wires or poor contact [#10256436]

    Hello,
The case concerns MONDEO MK4 COMBI
I noticed the lack of left position lights and therefore the lack of left rear light. I checked the bulbs and they are OK. I suspected the fuses, but the manual does not mention the fuse for the position lights. So I checked all fuses and relays (all 3 boxes) - but everything was OK.

The right side lights up - the left side doesn`t. Suspicion fell on the computer, are the position controls directly controlled by the computer in this model? Has anyone encountered such a problem?
In previous models there were separate fuses responsible for the position lights, but there is nothing like that here.

ps. I don`t know if it has anything to do with it, but in addition, the light in the cabin (the one next to the rear-view mirror) does not go off when I set it to the middle position (door sensor), and all the other lights (the one above the passengers and in the trunk) go off

    Please help.

The vehicle interior fuse box is powered from the engine compartment relay fuse box, namely 60A fuses (F17 and F18, if I am not mistaken - considering the position lighting). On line 50, the probably purple-green cable powers the rear left position light, and on line 39, the left position light is probably a yellow-blue cable

I checked everything and it sucks. And reset helped. And I have lights :) Reset involves disconnecting the battery terminal for 10 seconds.

The reset didn`t help me, can you write what needs to be done to remove these fuses?

I don`t remember. And I`m far from Mondeo. What are your symptoms? Because these fuses are main fuses, probably 60 A. If they fail, more circuits are without voltage. I don`t remember exactly, but I think the wall moves upwards.

I understand that "current is coming", which means that there is voltage in the bulb socket. Check if any other bulb lights up and then you have voltage. Does the voltage disappear after opening/closing the flap?

    Hello.
I have a problem with the rear and front lights on the right side. Parking lights don`t work. The front lights come on when I press the brake pedal. I checked the fuses and they are ok. What could be the reason?

If there is a double-filament bulb in the rear lamp, it is possible that someone inserted a single-filament bulb

    Hello.
I also wanted to ask what could be the reason for the rear lights in the trunk lid not working. Reverse works, but the rest does not (the bulbs are ok, but the voltage is only in the reverse bulb socket). My brother misled me earlier because he said that there was voltage in all sockets, but as it turned out it was only in the reverse socket. I apologize for my earlier incorrect information.
    Thanks for the help

Maybe broken cables at the transition from the body to the tailgate, or lack of contact in some bones along the way, it`s worth checking.

Hello. I noticed that my right rear and front lights turn off after about 3 seconds. Should I try a reset or is there another way to solve the problem?

Well, there`s definitely something going on with the module. On the MKIV forum they write that key 10 is the most important tool for repairing Mondeo :) . Reset. Just have the radio code on hand.

Normally remove the battery terminal for 15 - 20 seconds. Then put it on. It will fire up without a problem.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around an electrical issue in a Ford Mondeo MK4 Kombi, specifically the malfunction of the left position lights and cabin light. The user confirmed that the bulbs are functional and checked all fuses and relays without finding any faults. Suggestions from other users included checking the power supply to the left position light, inspecting the fuses F17 and F18 in the interior fuse box, and performing a battery reset, which resolved the issue for one user. Additional troubleshooting advice included checking for broken cables at the tailgate and ensuring correct bulb types are used. The cabin light issue, which remains on in the middle position, may also be related to the same electrical fault.
