Hello, I’m renovating my flat and would like to automate it a little. Here are my requirements:
- Controlling the on/off function of 230V sockets
- Controlling the lighting
- Connecting to an alarm control panel
- CCTV monitoring (recording)
Everything will be operated via a web interface or possibly a small smartphone app
As a system based on PLC controllers is expensive, my idea is to use a controller based on a small computer + relay cards
I am considering two solutions
1.) an ITX board, model D945GSEJT, with a dual-core Atom processor, 1GB RAM and a 60GB SSD
2.) the little computer known to everyone as the Raspberry Pi + an SD card
Please let me know what you think – does it make sense? Perhaps some of you already have such an economical version of a smart home?
Best regards
