    Hello.
I’ve been searching in vain for a device that would act as a sort of extension lead or a plug with a built-in motion sensor.
The thing is, I have an old telly at home and a wife who, just out of habit, switches it on at 7 in the morning and doesn’t switch it off until around 11 pm.
Most of the time she isn’t in the room, so the TV is on all by itself. I’d like to install a motion sensor there that would cut the power to the TV after, say, 2 minutes of no detected movement.
I’ve only found sensors designed for controlling lighting – and here’s my question – could I, for example, connect the URZ3193 sensor to the TV instead of to light bulbs?

The idea may well be sound, but it’s impractical – what will happen when you’re sitting in your armchair? Are you going to wave at the detector every 10 seconds?

I’m just wondering how the TV would cope if it switched on every 10 minutes, but technically you can do that by setting the switch-on time to the longest possible duration. I’ve got three of these installed, but they’re for the lights.

I want to set it up so that, once it’s switched off, I have to switch the TV back on manually using a button or the remote control, so that it doesn’t switch on all the time.

In other words, after 3 minutes of inactivity, the circuit should switch off and I’d have to switch it back on manually in some way. In that case, the TV should go into sleep mode.

In the evening, whilst sitting in an armchair, giving it a little kick every three minutes for my health should be fine too – so I’m going to start building this device. Thanks.
