Which room thermostat can I use with a 25 kW eco-coal stove and IRYD RTZ so it switches the controller into maintenance mode without a separate power supply?

Use a room thermostat with dry contacts and wire it to COM and NC, because those are the terminals that are closed when the set temperature is reached [#11593717][#11594614] The thread also notes that a model with three terminals (NC, NO, COM) does not need its own power supply, which fits your requirement [#11592929] As a practical choice, the thread starter bought an Auraton 1300 [#11593486] They later reported that an Auraton 2005 also worked well [#11595720]

    Hello,

I have a 25 kW eco-coal stove with an IRYD RTZ PID fuzzy logic controller. I’d like to buy a thermostat for it (normally open), preferably with a bimetal control mechanism, without the need for a separate power supply. In other words, the contacts are open before the set temperature is reached, and once the temperature is reached, the contacts close and the stove (controller) switches to the maintenance mode. I found something like this on Allegro: ‘Bimetal Room Temperature Controller, Room Thermostat, model: MT-2’. The problem is that it seems to work the other way round, i.e. the contacts are normally closed. Can you recommend anything?

Exactly, but first of all, you need to connect a separate power supply to it, which I’d like to avoid, and the sensor has to be clipped onto a pipe. What I’m after is a room thermostat that measures the air temperature.

It doesn’t need a power supply, but if you want a room-temperature one, get one like this . It has 3 terminals: NC, NO and COM; you’ll need the NO and COM terminals.

Sorry, but you wrote that yourself.

Well, there you go – the contacts must be NO.

OK, I’ve bought an Auraton 1300; I’ll let you know how it performs once I’ve installed it.

Room thermostats refer to contacts that are either open or closed when the set temperature in the room is reached.
If COM and NC are marked, you need to connect to the terminals that will be closed when the temperature is reached.
    So the instructions are correct.

AdamMat is right – you just need to read the description carefully (the two sentences preceding the first diagram) – it’s very simple and to the point.

    Right, we’ve finally reached a consensus :)

    Perhaps a bit off-topic :)

There’s a bit of a mess in the village :P
Which bimetallic thermostat should I use for a 25kW eco-coal stove with IRYD RTZ?
And here’s the mess my installer has left me with:
Which bimetallic thermostat should I use for a 25kW eco-coal stove with IRYD RTZ?
And then there’s the stove from Profil:
Which bimetallic thermostat should I use for a 25kW eco-coal stove with IRYD RTZ?

I paid a bit extra and bought an Auraton 2005; I splashed out on the day and night programmes. Everything’s working well.
