I have seen this problem in 2 of the model UN55B8500 tv's. The television will not turn on and a clicking sound can be heard from the back of the unit. In both TV's I repaired, the problem was not the power supply or the main circuit board. The problem was the 2 small function boards mounted in the frame. One for on/off and the other for menu, sound, and channel up or down. These boards are held in place by a non hardening glue. It appears that if the area on the frame around these boards is compressed when lifting the tv, the buttons seem to stick or operate by themselves. If a button sticks, this can prevent the tv from turning on, and it makes the relay clicking sound. One tv would display the menu in the middle of a program with no one pushing a button. Both tv's were repaired by simply removing the 2 boards, removing excesss glue and reinstalling the same boards.

Follow up on above post: One of the TV's has the on/ off problem again two months after the repair. I changed the touch boards with new boards, but that did not fix the problem. I found that laying the TV flat and disconnecting the plugs between the circuit boards and then reconnecting could make the problem go away. After reconnectiong all the connectors, I could not make the problem appear again, so I assembled the TV, placed it in the upright position and kept checking for a few days. After approximately 5 days, the problem came back. The TV would not turn on. The blue light was on, and I could not turn the TV off. I disconnected the power and tried again. No luck. So I tapped the TV on the back a few times with my open hand, not enough to dent the cover, and it worked when I did the remote. This has happened 2 times since I tapped it on the back the first time , and each time after a few light taps, it works. Loose connection appears to be the problem. The cable that runs from the power supply board to the main board carries the signal to turn on the TV, and it hangs down when the TV is upright. It looks like some of the wires have tension on them. I have not fixed the problem yet, but if I can bring it on with the tapping a few more times, I will be checking the solder connections on the plugs on the boards and support that cable.

Aldkiz, were you ever able to find a definitive fix? We are having the same problem with our UN55B8500. The first time the problem occurred I removed the TV from the wall, removed the back cover and tested voltages at various locations. At some point the clicking noise stopped and the TV worked. This method "fixed" the TV the first few times it failed. The last time it failed it started to work after it was taken off the wall before I even removed the back panel.

    It is now failing again.

I may have found the problem with this UN55B8500. I was waiting to post this information until I was almost sure the problem no longer existed. Well, it has been over a month, and it has not failed yet. The last time it went through the no start or off on cycle, I removed the power supply circuit board and used a magnifying glass to check all the solder connections. I found a cold solder connection on one of the transistors. I wish I had looked at the part number, but I was in a hurry to see if I fixed the problem, and I reassembled the TV before I thought about getting the number. The odd looking transistor is located just behind the black plug connector that connects to the cable to the main circuit board. If you look at the power supply as it mounts in the TV the transistor is to the left of the black connector and at the bottom. There are capacitors, I believe 3 above and 1 to the right of this 3 pronged IC or transistor. As I was checking for bad connections, I slightly moved each component, and I mean slightly, and that is when I saw the pin on this IC move. I will attempt to get the part number for the IC, but I hope I provided a location that you can find it.
I attempted to upload a picture, and if you see it, the IC is to the left of the cap with the blue mark on top.
I checked to see if the picture was attached, and it is not. The list of address has a link to the picture, but it is in the middle of the list. https://obrazki.elektroda.pl/2325352500_1373384735_thumb.jpg
The IC is near the bottom of the plug connector not the bottom of the board.

It is difficult to see with such a small picture if it is the item I think it is. It is a voltage regulator.
