Hello.I bought an audi a4 b8 2008 after a small bump. The car has already been repaired and all the electrics are working, except that the car cannot be started. After the firing attempt, you can hear that the starter has struck the automaton, but the starter does not spin. as if there was no power + and the machine itself worked. After connecting the vag, there is no connection with the engine or the airbag to delete the crash data. I am not sure if it is the fault of the pyrotechnic clamp because apart from that, everything else works. Please give me a hint

Check the power supply on the starter, and get VCDS because VAG will not connect with anything in this yearbook.

The strange thing is, it connects to other systems without any problem. As for the crash data, I agree with you 100%, that's why the service will do it, they say they want 100 PLN for it. But what about the engine? I will check all the power supplies today.

They did not delete the accident record, but they deleted the error. In measuring blocks, when you bury it, you will see how many bumps there are.
After removing Crash, you can not see that the car was beaten.

only with me I drove ... and suddenly the starter fell down

Added after 2 [hours] 22 [minutes]:

the problem was the pyrotechnic clamp on the battery ... then I will post a photo report and description

So as I wrote, not any crash date as others suggest etc ... only a pyrotechnic clamp that goes with smoke when "bags" pop out. The effect is simple ... the car does not start and after pressing the ignition and trying to start you only hear "cycle - cycle" and nothing happens except that the electromagnet in the starter works.

In my case, some trader put a braid under the clamp, about 2.5 square ... which simply melted at the current that goes to the starter ...... the car also had a hard start, i.e. despite the efficient battery. It was hard to spin and sometimes a weak battery error appeared ... the modules were crazy and every now and then vcds detected something else ... problems. the car burns very willingly ... with the so-called arrow.
below photos .... I hope it is useful ..

the error that the VCDs showed was:

5456 - Starter Will Not Turn
    P3054 00 [039] - Jammed or Electrical Malfunction
Not Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear

True. The cause was a clash, but no error was popping up. It was enough to turn the main power supply to another screw.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a 2008 Audi A4 B8 that experienced starting issues following a minor collision. The owner reported that the starter engaged but did not spin, and there was no VAG connection to the engine or airbag systems for crash data deletion. Responses suggested checking the power supply to the starter and using VCDS for diagnostics. The owner later confirmed that VCDS successfully connected, allowing the car to start. It was identified that the issue stemmed from a faulty pyrotechnic clamp on the battery, which affected the starter's operation. Other users shared similar experiences, indicating that the pyrotechnic clamp can cause starting failures and electrical malfunctions, emphasizing the importance of proper connections and diagnostics post-accident.
