hello, as in the topic, I'm looking for a good program for recording and processing vocals. Currently I am using cool edit pro 2.1, but I think there will be better programs in this area ... Could you recommend any? Cheers

Maybe you would define what you expect from the program, what you miss in Cool Edit?
The most important is the microphone, cable and interface or sound card (not to be confused with the sound card), if any of these elements is weak it will not matter what you record the sound.
First, write down what exactly you want to record, what equipment you have, what you expect from the recording software and what the end result should be.

    Greetings...

Well ... I have a good microphone, and so is the cable. The audio interface also does not have a music card. I only record vocals and that's what I care about. I do not complain about the quality, but rather about the mastering possibilities and general comfort. For example, the recording of the session irritates me ... The end result, I would like a relatively 'comfortable' program in which I get very good vocal quality.

Let me put it bluntly, a well-recorded vocal does not require much processing, if you do not have any interface or sound card, you also have a "good" microphone, even the best program for obediating will not help much here. Yes, poor material can be improved a bit, but it will still be poor material, only slightly improved.

If you are serious about recording your vocals, buy at least a good usb microphone (it has a built-in interface), you will spend these three hundred dollars, but you will see what comfort it is when the material is well recorded. In fact, it does not need any major processing, or the addition of some effects such as reverb or delay.

Another thing is the room where you record, good soundproofing is the basis and it does not have to be a soundproof room with screens, I record in the dressing room (clothes act as soundproofing).

I apologize if you did not expect such an answer, but believe me, a few years ago I changed a lot of "cheap" solutions, because for amateur recording I do not need to have a studio right away, and unfortunately these cheap solutions are the most expensive.
I felt sorry for those few words, bought a guitar interface with an XLR microphone input, a good amateur microphone, and practically my audio booth now comes down to trimming and correction of the sound intensity, and I record Audacity.

The basis for a good final quality is a good recording at the very beginning. For vocals, start with a good microphone in an acoustically adapted room. Another important element is the microphone preamplifier and the interface to the computer. Only at the end of this chain is the sound processing software.

Sorry, I made it vague. I have a 'cabin', I added a panel to the corner in my room and the resulting cuboid was damped with mineral wool. I have a microphone for PLN 300. Sinn7 Dasmic 3 and a mixer, rather standard with an XLR connector. Maybe I do not have a music card, but when I ordered a computer, I emphasized that the sound card should be expanded ... Generally, when it comes to processing, I mean such 'goodies', the quality itself is good but I heard that there are better programs than cool edit.

Such goodies that you write about are mainly standard plugins, e.g. VST, not programs.

Ok, I'll look for plugins. In general, do you recommend a program? Eg Acid Pro 7?

A matter of taste and habits. With the recording itself, the program does not matter, because it only saves what the music card gives it to the disk. When processing, a question of convenience and the plugs you use.

In the past, 3-4 programs dominated the market, such as the most professional Protools, then Cubase / Nuendo (Steinberg) which includes standards such as ASIO, VST, VSTi or Samplitude. Recently, similar programs have multiplied, although for me the first two are still the leading ones.

Now another question arises, how much do you want to invest in the software, because the free ones are usually weak, the better ones cost up to about PLN 3,000.

200, 300 PLN? You honestly surprised me with this maximum price ... :O My point is that cool edit, although good, is not necessarily convenient.

    Or maybe Reaper?

as I wrote, a desktop computer (with a sound card, supposedly a bit better ...), a mixer with phantom power, a condenser microphone and a booth. Such a home studio. And I would like to cover these topics a bit more, because I'm interested in all of this. From time to time my friends come over and record, I also record something there myself and I would like to have the best end result of the recordings.
