I have a problem with Man TGX 18.440, it stopped downloading adblue and the error 05508-04 and 05031-02 lit up. After replacing the main and pre-filters, 05031-02 (overspeed detection and pump motor lock) went out, but still 5508 CAN error (NO1 message) remained. The car has no strength. Any ideas what this error 5508 could mean and where to look for the reason?

Check the wiring harness for the NOx module behind the right front wheel arch, it likes to rub. Tomorrow I will check Man-CATs what exactly this error means and I will let you know around noon if none of my colleagues will tell me.

    AdBlue pump blocked
Check the AdBlue pump for operation and correctness. The pump speed in the activated state drops below the minimum speed.

    5508 CAN error (message NO1)
Control of CAN messages for errors in timing, signals, comprehensibility
    Data record error
Currently, there is no impact on the functionality of the system.

Thanks colleagues for the quick reply and suggestions. Buddy @ diablo23248, tomorrow I will check Nox and let you know. I also took out the injector and dispenser to clean, but I doubt that it will help.

Thanks again, fault diagnosed. The problem is a blown contact in the plug in the NOx sensor. Water got in (the rest scorched) Pin 1. Do you know if this sensor can be disassembled? Anyone doing this? Will I be replaced by one small pin?

It is possible to undress, the rest is manual skill.

NOx disassembled, soldered, still error 05508-04 (regardless of whether the plug is inserted or not). Before that, there was definitely no contact. Where are the wires leading from this sensor?

New sensor. How can you be sure that it will show the correct values? If there is a second car, it is worth swapping places.

Problem solved. The sensor electronics were also damaged. After replacing the sensor and removing the short circuit, the problem disappeared. A short circuit at the plug to the module burned NOx. Thank you very much to all forum members for their help.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around issues with the MAN TGX 18.440 related to AdBlue system errors, specifically error codes 05508-04 and 05031-02. The user reported that after replacing the main and pre-filters, the 05031-02 error (indicating overspeed detection and pump motor lock) was resolved, but the 05508 CAN error (NO1 message) persisted, leading to a loss of vehicle power. Suggestions included checking the wiring harness for the NOx module for damage, inspecting the AdBlue pump for blockages, and diagnosing the NOx sensor for potential water damage. Ultimately, the problem was traced to a blown contact in the NOx sensor plug, which was repaired, but the sensor electronics were also found to be damaged. After replacing the sensor and addressing the short circuit, the issues were resolved.
