    Hi!
I want to make a system for a new flat to read the current status of the meters(water, energy) using rpi and send to the user(web, app). I want to do this for a new flat so I can afford to install the kind of meters I want.
After a little research, I saw that many companies offer such meters together with ready-made software. I've also seen quite a few smart home projects, but that's not what I'm after. Could you advise me what kind of meters I can buy and how to connect them to the rpi in order to create such a remote reading system, because while I will have no problem transferring such data from the rpi to anywhere, I am green when it comes to meters or reading data from them. I should also add that I have an rpi model B and am not interested in livestreaming with a camera showing on the counter screen :P .

    See something like this: http://i-node.pl/i-node/inode-energy-meter/
The sensor simply sticks to the meter.
There is also an identical version with a reed switch for the water meter.
The devices have a Bluetooth 4.0 interface, so in theory you can read the data via the RPI. In the case of a house, such a daily graph of electricity consumption looks like this: http://inode.pl/energy.png

@Pawel2420: have you done anything with the inod and counter? edit: any idea what the price of one inode is?
Interesting thing, but I was thinking more of connecting directly rpi with some counter. I care more, about reading the status of the meter, rather than its current consumption. I found a subject of meters from Energa, but they do not allow connection to the meter via computer - click

I provided this link to indicate that it is not always necessary to read the physical data from the counter. An alternative solution is to count the flashes of an LED. Every electronic counter has such an LED. So this is a universal method. The ZE often mounts the meter in a cabinet behind plexiglass and the user has no physical access to it.

From behind this glass, however, LED flashes can be detected. An analysis of daily power consumption in my opinion only makes sense for houses with many different appliances. There, there is usually something to save on.

Note that simple water meters do not have any electronics. In this case, you can only count the rotations of the dial (optically or with a reed switch).
This device from the link costs retail ~£90.
