Hello, for the first time in my life I am trying to buy a 2-3 room flat on credit. It will be a property in development condition, meaning just bare walls. The problem is that I am a mobility impaired person in an active wheelchair, but I still need third-party assistance and I have a lot of concerns about how I will manage in this flat. I have read that in addition to the standard adaptation of the bathroom and kitchen, it is worth considering the solutions used in so-called Smart Homes. I am therefore looking for help and advice on how I could use such technology to be at least a little more independent.
I would like to know what I should consider, i.e. what would actually be useful to me. I'm not looking for gadgets because I can't afford that, just essentials. To make it easier, I will say that I have weak hands(incomplete power in my hands) and it is hard for me to reach for something that is high up. I am very much asking for any suggestions. Where to start, where to look (any forums, websites, professionals?), what are the costs and is it worth bothering.Cheers

Instead of gadgets, simply adjust the heights of the locations of any sockets and switches to suit you.

When I was three years old we moved into a new flat. During the renovation, my father reworked the electrical installation by adjusting the height of the light switches from about 1.5m to 0.8m (the height of a free-hanging hand of a standing adult) and fitted them with luminous switches (with neon lights). This ensured that I did not wake them up when I went to the toilet :D

After 45 years, this time I rearranged the flat for his needs. Extra handles for the shower, a TV at the right angle over the bed, a handle for getting out of bed, etc.

And as for technology, you can do a lot so try maybe dreaming and we will tell you if it can be done cheaply. After all, you know best what is or will be a problem for you in the future.

If you live or stay alone for a long time, for example, it may be important to be able to call for help ... here we have plenty of low-cost options.

Hmm, well, for example such remote control of heat, roller blinds, some kind of camera, card door. That's all I can think of, realistic stuff.Al I'm green in this so I'm calling for suggestions.

    1. What kind of heating?
    2. Roller shutters - as much as possible - smartfoen can it be?
    3. Camera - specifically what do you expect?
    4. Door + card - no problem, but is there a need and why?

Generally, any electrical device can be cheaply connected to a WiFi network so whatever you want it to be, you can try to streamline its operation.

    1. So you have temperature-controlled valves, but you want to be able to control them?
    2. Opening the window - sure it's possible, you just have to install the right servo.
    3. Here you need an internet connection and it can of course be done.
    4. OK, no problem - there could be a card or some kind of micro transmitter or even a smartphone that connects automatically by bluetooth when you are close to the door.

In general, almost anything you can think of is mostly possible to do cheaply and in-house. But work will be required, for example fitting a mechanism to open and close the window, and I don't think you can handle that yourself.

Well, if I wanted something more specific, where to ask for such mechanisms/professionals somewhere in the Podlasie area at relatively logical prices
