Left Shift + Right Alt + S Key Combination Not Working on Any Program

Why does Left Shift + Right Alt + S type plain S instead of Ś, and how can I fix it?

Your keyboard is likely suffering from ghosting/key-matrix limits, so the combination Left Shift + Right Alt + S is not being registered correctly; on some cheap keyboards certain multi-key combinations stop the last key from being read, while other combinations like Right Shift + Right Alt + S still work [#19281343] Test the keyboard with a multi-key ghosting checker such as MultiKeyDisplay to confirm the limitation [#19281343] If another keyboard works on the same PC, then the problem is the keyboard itself, not Windows or the layout settings [#15551025] Also make sure the layout is set to Polish (Programmers), because Polish 214 or Polish-only layouts can behave differently [#15525806][#15525867] If the layout is correct, check whether any background program or graphics driver hotkey uses that key combination [#15525803][#15525965] If none of that helps, the practical fix is to replace the keyboard or use a different key combination [#19281343]

    Hello!
Well, my problem is flimsy, but troublesome for me - the point is that when I press the key combination: left Shift + right alt + s in ANY program "S" appears. However, strange as I take the key combination Right shift + right alt + s, "Ś" works without any problems. I'm just used to typing capital letters with the left shift and it's hard for me to switch. I even made a format to see if it worked (I know it's a "brilliant solution"). However, the problem persists.

and the rest of the Polish letters, e.g. ą, ę? it works? If it does not work, try the remapkey program, I will give the link http://www.remapkey.com/download.html, but first check if you have not assigned a keyboard shortcut to some program running in the background.

It is also possible that this keyboard does. Maybe some Chinese genius did not predict that someone would type "Polish capital s with a line" on the keyboard. Of course you have to make sure that the keyboard layout is "Polish programmer" and not "Polish 214", or "Polish" only.

I do not recommend buying keyboards from little-known companies. It is enough to buy a cheaper but good one. Besides, maybe his chip is broken.

Check if any program has HotKey in this combination. Most often it is in the drivers of the graphics card.

-I have this Polish programmer set up and tried with everyone else Polish
-yes, other Polish characters like ą, ę etc. work big and small
-no program in the background does not cause this, closed what I could and only with the right Shift entered
-with this problem in the keyboard itself: I will let you know soon because I do not have something else at hand
-with HoKey in graphics: I'm more of a physical work than an IT specialist, so I don't know how to check it
    - remapkey: the screenshot attachment best describes my situation.

Overall, thanks a lot for all these helpful answers and sorry that I couldn't write back during the day with the hook.

I don't know what graphics card you have, so I can only guess .. you right-click on the desktop and enter the graphics properties or there should be a direct link to the Nvidia or Radeon driver. There, find the hotkey options or whatever sounds similar and deactivate it.

The graphics card is an nvidia GTX960 and after right-clicking I have the "NVIDIA Control Panel" option. I haven't found anything there about these hotkey options unless it's just under a different name or I'm blind and I can't see it.

I checked my brother's keyboard, or rather "checked". He has a 6-pin keyboard and he works without a problem in my computer, and I don't read it like that and I don't have how to check the damn Left shift + right alt + s. Now the question: what is k # @% not like this with my computer?!?

If you connect a different keyboard to your computer and it will be 100% fault with the keyboard. If it still won't, it will either be language / keyboard settings or hotkeys.

@ Aseri15 and not a PS / 2 port better? because as via USB it takes up space.

I understand that you mean to seize the usb port? Maybe it was a problem in the past when there were 2 usb ports on the rear panel, but not when we have 6-8 usb ports.

I will give the answer because maybe someone else will have this problem.
Your keyboard has a problem with ghosting (due to the way the keyboard is constructed, after pressing several buttons at once, the keyboard stops sending subsequent buttons. Some combinations allow you to press 5-6 at the same time, but e.g. l-alt, shift do not allow you to read the s character) the problem is directly the cheap keyboard.

    https://drakeirving.github.io/MultiKeyDisplay/
Here you can test how ghosting works.

The only solution that would not require some strange binding itself to e.g. numpad is to buy a new keyboard

Topic summary

✨ The user is experiencing an issue where the key combination of left Shift + right Alt + S does not produce the expected output of "Ś" in any program, while the combination of right Shift + right Alt + S works correctly. Various responses suggest checking keyboard language settings, specifically ensuring it is set to "Polish - Programmers," and verifying if any background programs are using hotkeys that might interfere. Some responses indicate that the problem could be due to keyboard ghosting, a limitation in cheaper keyboards that prevents multiple key presses from being registered simultaneously. Recommendations include testing with a different keyboard and considering the purchase of a higher-quality USB keyboard to resolve the issue.
