motherboard gigabyte ga-k8nf-9 with bios corrupted. the eprom is pm49fl004t-33jc

i've willem programmer pcb50b but it not recognize the chip! i've clicked on device->fwh/lpc->pmc->pm49fl004

but when i click device id it is not recognized!

so i've bought the fwh/lpc adapter but it still not recognized!
    could you help me?

    Wrong way.
    1. LPC adapter is different from 1:1 PLCC to DIP32 adapter.
    2. You need simple 1:1 adapter for parallel programming (not serial) with LV buffered signals - adapted for low voltage flash. Willem is 5V powered, Your BIOS chip is 3,3V powered, connecting this chip under 5V power and bus will risk of destroying it.

Best resolution is get this flash (unsoldered) and BIOS data to anybody having professional memory programmer and flash it for cents. Willem and (I assume) PonyProg are weak pair.

OK. My error, Google show me parallel version flash.
Seems good adapter fot this chip.
In this circumstances may be problem with used software (Pony or similiar), broken chip, wrong switch config.
I had Willem and throw this apart - very unreliable, free software has only one positive - it's free. Try force programming without chip ID. Alghorithm is same for all LPCs, set only capacity and go.

How do I have to set the capacity?

Which type of programmer do you suggest to buy?

First what soft You using to drive Willem?
For one time BIOS flashing You want buy new programmer... 150-200 Euro. Bad idea.
Willem is software driven, OS interactions, delays and PC background tasks interfers with chips timing. Many conditions may cooperate to failing work. It's unclear what and when fails.
Since I start using hardware programmer my work changes to better. See on Willem forum, many people gone crazy. (At some time me too).
    EDIT:
    Capacity is 4 Megabits.

you are right! but this is the first time that i've problem with willem!

    i use 098d12c4 software

Why You not using FWH/LPC socket on main board? Switches for LPC/FWH config enables main PLCC32 socket not a DIP one.
Pull adapter form DIP socket and use original socket located on main board. On photo on right from DIP, lower socket.

Because the software requests to insert the adapter. However, even without the adapter, the chip is not recognized

Strange behaviour. Socket for LPC flash was located on board for some reason.
Next tip - I see Willem 5.0 board, this software is dedicated for new 7.0 and 7.1 boards, maybe some incompatibility?
No more ideas... I stop working with Willems on version 2.
Last one - failed memory chip. If possible try testing equipment with other LPC chip. If will succeed You have broken flash, if not - then probably is programmer or software error.

    First> GA-K8NF-9 very old motherboard ~8 years ?
Second> Cost adapter >> cost motherboard :) (and cost chip)
Dear phantomEVO if you want to the motherboard can be bought on Polish auction site, for an amount of approximately 15Euro (The kit includes: Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 / Athlon 64 3500+ / 2GB) plus shipping to you.
If you are interested send email to me at priv.

Oh I forgot, BIOS from the site gigabyte is probably compressed so direct upload to the chip may not be possible (do not give)

Yes, I know that the motherboard is 8 years old. But what's the problem? I've the programmer, I've some free time...so why don't try to fix it?

If the bios is compressed or encoded sometimes specifically shared to upload to the chip, will not repair.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 motherboard with a corrupted BIOS, specifically using the PM49FL004T-33JC EEPROM chip. The user is experiencing issues with their Willem Programmer PCB50B, which fails to recognize the chip despite attempts with an FWH/LPC adapter. Responses highlight the age of the motherboard and suggest that the Willem programmer may be unreliable, recommending a hardware programmer for better results. Users discuss the need for proper voltage settings and the possibility of a faulty chip or software incompatibility. There are also mentions of the BIOS potentially being compressed, complicating direct uploads. Suggestions include using a TL866 programmer as an alternative.
