    Hello everyone

I have a problem with a bathroom fan. The fan in the bathroom Meltem G-4 started working as the light in the bathroom was on for more than 30 sec and turned off 2 min after the light was off. I wanted to switch it to turn on a few minutes after the light was on. So I took apart the light switch from the bathroom and one of the wires fell out. I put it in the same place, but now the fan turns on as soon as I turn on the fuse. I thought maybe I had connected that wire wrong, but even disconnecting the switch didn't help. Still the fan turns on together with turning on the fuse from the bathroom, even if the light in the bathroom is off. I attach pictures of the switch.

Is it possible that with the fan there is an adjustment for the delay time and run time?

And which wire(s) is from the fan and where is it plugged in ?

It seems to me that the brown one at the top goes to the fan. That black wire at the bottom is described as L, but when I turn off the black one at the top, the bathroom light does not light up.

I waited after turning off the fuse for 20 minutes and every time I now turn on the fuse the fan also turns on. Even when the switch from the light is disconnected. It works as if it is permanently connected to the voltage.

Better than looking for potentiometers at the switch.

If it has a delay in operation then it must be permanently energized.
I don't know if you have one exactly like this but see the description http://www.meltem.com/fileadmin/meltem/downlo...ng/g4/Unterputz/Meltem%20Montageanleitung.pdf

I still can't figure out what to do with this fan. It should turn on when it gets a signal from the lighting switch, but it turns on all the time even when it is disconnected from the switch. Can it be adjusted somehow?

Thanks for your reply. Your schematic is clear and that's how it should be connected according to the instructions.

Unfortunately, there is a trick done here. In the picture you can see the connection of the fan. There are only two cables N and L coming in, L is also plugged into the Ls socket.
I have drawn what I think the wiring diagram of the fan looks like, I do not know what happens between the dashed lines and what right it worked.

In a circuit like yours, it could only work when voltage was applied by the switch and went off as the switch was turned off.

Looking at the circuitry of this fan, it's hard to believe that it worked with a delay....

It is likely that somewhere along the way there is still a timer controlling this fan.

When it comes to adjusting the operation, if I see it correctly there are two blue potentiometers

  • Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a Meltem G-4 bathroom fan that operates continuously, regardless of the light switch's status. The user initially intended to adjust the fan's delay settings but encountered issues after reconnecting a wire. Responses suggest that the fan may have a built-in timer or humidity control, which could be causing it to run independently of the light switch. Several users recommend checking the wiring connections, particularly the L and N terminals, and suggest consulting an electrician for proper diagnosis and adjustments. The presence of potentiometers for delay settings is also mentioned, indicating potential for user adjustments.
