He took me recently for minor renovation works, including corrections after "specialists on recommendation". One of their many electrical and construction feats was to make a socket in a cabinet (storage space) made of plywood, but they did it by cutting an irregular hole in the plywood and inserting a loosely hanging and protruding wall outlet.

I wanted the socket there because I keep the router and home file server there, so I don't want to close it, just do it properly. Only is it possible to properly implement an electrical outlet in such a place?

I was thinking of putting a regular wall outlet in there, but I don't know if it can be safely mounted on plywood. Alternatively, I can get rid of the whole wall and mount directly on the wall (I would prefer not, because the cabinet is at the height of the riser and probably full near the cables laid) or as a last resort make a socket outside the cabinet and carry the extension cord inside, but I would prefer to hide as much as possible.

Nonsense. Such matters are regulated by the PN-IEC 60364-7-713: 2005 standard. Electrical installations in buildings - Requirements for special installations or locations - Furniture.

Standards may not be posted without permission. You think you know that?
The surface-mounted socket is acceptable for mounting in the storage space (I understand that this is a permanently attached element to the walls), provided that power is supplied through rigid cables with a minimum cross-section of 1.5 mm?, properly protected against damage. They should be, for example, permanently attached to the walls of furniture, or placed in a cover, channel, channel, etc. Particular attention should also be paid to matters of fire safety, analyzing any possibility of danger. Equipment generating heat should be provided with appropriate conditions for heat dissipation, in accordance with the manufacturers' recommendations, to maintain the correct position during operation, etc. so as to exclude exceeding 90 degrees anywhere.
I don't need to remind you that the installation must be RCD protected.
The socket can also be powered with hoses and cords, but their protection is more complicated.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the installation of an electrical socket in a plywood cabinet, addressing issues of improper mounting and safety standards. The user seeks advice on how to properly install a socket for devices like a router and file server without compromising safety or aesthetics. Responses highlight the importance of adhering to the PN-IEC 60364-7-713: 2005 standard, which allows for surface-mounted sockets in storage spaces, provided they are connected with rigid cables of at least 1.5 mm² and are protected against damage. Fire safety considerations and the necessity for RCD protection are emphasized. Alternatives such as external sockets with extension cords are also mentioned, but the preference remains for a concealed installation.
