    I know that the topic has been rolled out several times, but I did not find a meaningful answer. I want to attach a glowing El wire cable to the car, by default it is powered by two batteries - a total of 3v, and the car is 12v. I found a lot of solutions but up to 5v, but it's a bit too much.     Solutions a lot. Resistor, zenerka, linear regulator.
    But most effectively (read you will get the most efficiency) will use a step-down converter.

    And where did you get the resistor value from? Have you taken into account the current consumed by the device, or did you "watch"?

    There was a similar project on some forum, they used 1k Ohm there. There is no current or anything on the "device" itself

    If you insist, you can connect the appropriate power supply in series with the ammeter. You would have more or less the current and could calculate the appropriate resistor value (also pay attention to the power).
    However, I recommend using a step-down converter, it may be one with regulated output voltage. You set it to 3V and you have a problem with your head.

    El wire requires high voltage, which means that there is an inverter somewhere.

    A solution with a serial resistor is not safe, the inverter does not behave like a resistor and the degree of division of such a divider can change.

    For example, if moments after switching on consumes less current, it will get a voltage higher than 3V and may be damaged.

    Thanks for all the advice, I tried with this 20 Ohm resistor, but only the smoke from the transducer flew - I do not recommend it for the future. I will order a new transformer and connect the inverter to this

    I don't have any because I haven't bought it yet. For now, I wanted to know what it looks like. And judging by this post, El Wire is not described
