At the beginning I wanted to welcome everyone.
    This is my first post.

I have a small problem with firmware download for the Huawei E3372 modem.
I have an E3372h modem and I need to upload a proven firmware with E3372s to work with my router.
So in general how to convert e3372 zh to s?

During the uploading of the firmware, an error appears: the uploaded firmware is not a firmware.

    Thanks for the answers.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to upload the firmware from s to h. These are completely different modems (different hardware).

    Greetings.

You do not understand the topic, changing the HiLink version to the regular one takes place within the same hardware version and these are 3, E3372 s-153, E3372 H-153 and E3372 h-320

    Can it be brighter?

I have the h320 version, I need a version that is a regular modem and not a pseudo-router, so I assume that I need to upload the s ### version.
There is a description of the firmware change on the uploaded page, are you suggesting it won't work?

This is a different hardware version, it is known as HiLink, there is no standard modem software for it. E3372 is already old and nobody cares about it anymore, the previous versions of the s-153, h-153 have been the subject of many enthusiasts for many years, this h-320 does not interest anyone anymore, USB modems are a thing of the past, the value of such a modem is PLN 30 , the HiLink version is better because it allows you to manage the bands on the modem using external HiLink applications for Windows.

I changed to 3372s-153, although they came to me with HILINK loaded, but with the help of the instructions on this page:

    https://www.0xf8.org/2017/01/flashing-a-huawei-e3372h-4g-lte-stick-from-hilink-to-stick-mode/

I was able to convert them into ordinary modems.

Why did I need to get rid of HILINK?

I use it as a modem for OPENWRT gl.inet 300m (I recommend it, but with the usual OPENWRT loaded instead of the manufacturer's fw) if for some reason the Hilink modem router lost connection, there was no easy way to reset this connection.
Since this duo works unattended providing a VPN for the RCP solution working on the buses that the employees travel to the client every day, I needed something reliable and fully automatic.

On the S version, i.e. with fv 21.x, when the connection breaks, you can do ifdown / ifup and after the problem, with the multivan add-on, we get the option to script connected / disconnected / up / down events, so it can be automated.

The second reason is the stability of the HILINK itself, after 2 weeks of testing on 10 modems, I had a few cases when the modem just crashed, and twice it crashed so I had to upload new firmware - strange.

The third argument is the way HILINK does nating, not all fw is able to redirect traffic to DMZ, and since I also use public IP addresses and direct access in this solution, I need full NAT.

There is also a security issue - in HILINK, the PIN number remains on the modem, where it is not secured in any way, in the case of an ordinary modem the PIN is stuck in the router and these can usually be protected with a password.

So if you need an LTE modem for some unattended machine, look for the 3372s-153, even if you get the version with the 22.x hilink uploaded, it is possible to downgrade to a regular modem.

Yes, but you can convert any 3372 to versions without HILINK, and that's what this question is all about.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the challenges of uploading firmware from the Huawei E3372s model to the E3372h modem. The original poster seeks guidance on converting the E3372h to E3372s firmware but encounters an error indicating that the uploaded firmware is not valid. Responses clarify that the E3372h and E3372s are fundamentally different hardware versions, making direct firmware uploads incompatible. Some users share links to resources that detail the process of converting HiLink versions to standard modem modes, emphasizing that while it is possible to change firmware within the same hardware version, the E3372h-320 is less supported and considered outdated. Users also discuss the practical implications of using the E3372s for better connection management in specific applications, such as with OPENWRT routers.
