I have an ASUS K51A laptop. Until Friday everything was working fine. On Saturday I wanted to start the computer and nothing even appears on the bios screen. The LED on the laptop is lit, so the power is on. DVD ejection also works.
Hear the disc running and the DVD drive booting while turning on the laptop.
I opened the laptop and tried to run it with only one RAM chip and no RAM and it makes no difference, still the same. I checked on a different power supply and there is exactly the same problem.

I noticed that the processor fan does not turn on at all, and one more thing, if I want to turn off the laptop by holding the power button for a longer time, it does not turn off only after removing the plug.

I also tried booting with the battery in and the effect was the same.

    What's the problem?
I suspect a processor or motherboard.
Would the computer's bios boot with a damaged processor?
What do you think is damaged?
Visually there are no swollen capacitors etc on the motherboard, everything looks normal?
What else can I check and how to determine the cause of the failure?

Have you reset your bios to factory settings? Can you enter the bios and set boot from disc or pen?

If you mean removing the battery then yes.
As I wrote for the bios, I can not enter. Nothing appears at all any subtitles after starting just black screen immediately. So I can't change the settings to booting from a flash drive.

In the case of the bridge, the motherboard to be replaced? In other words, buying a new laptop? :(

Added after 2 [hours] 30 [minutes]:

I have a friend who has an ASUS 70A.
So I decided to check if it was not the processor's fault.
I plugged in my CPU in his laptop and he only got a black screen.
So I did a replacement on my laptop and connected its processor but still only had a black screen.
I reconnected my friend's CPU to his laptop and surprisingly I have a black screen on his laptop as well as mine :(
It is possible that I damaged my friend's CPU by connecting it to my laptop for up to 1 minute ?? :(
Before the CPU swap, his laptop worked fine.

    Added after 13 [minutes]:

Fortunately, after waiting for about 20 minutes, my friend's laptop booted up and works fine :)
But why the problem arose I have no idea then.

The bridge can be replaced, although it is not said to be damaged, do a cmos reset.

I did the reset. Is it possible to check if it is a 100% bridge at home?
You can replace the bridge, but the amount for the repair + no warranty on other parts in the laptop means that something may fall out again in some time, so I probably prefer to invest in a new laptop instead of adding to it. And the laptop is already years old, so the performance of components was not too good compared to new laptops.

In this model, the northern bridge is the most suspect - its defect can be diagnosed, for example, with a socket tester.
You can also leave the laptop turned on to heat up - then turn it off and on immediately - if you see an image, then 90% of your NB is damaged.

Did you check the compatibility of the processors with both motherboards before replacing them? My friend's laptop did not start with your processor because the motherboard did not support it. The processor is an extremely rare failing computer component. Don't look for the reason there.

If you gave the specification of the problematic equipment or at least the full model designation, it would be easier to say anything.

If it's a computer with an ATI / AMD chipset / graphics chip, you probably have the chip blown.

    Sequence of actions:
    1. BIOS reset,
    2. Substitution of 100% efficient (and supported) RAM module,
    3. Diagnostic heating of a suspect system.

Although I do not advise you to do the latter if you approach diagnostics with such ignorance.

Provide descriptions from the motherboard something like
    e.g.
    asus k51A
    mb: k51ab rev: 2.1
specify: whether AMD platform, cpu type, chipset,

The right decision is a very emergency album.

I checked on a friend's laptop because it is basically the same model, only larger, i.e. Asus K70AE, so the processor should approach. And one more information, for about half a year or more in the laptop, after connecting the power supply, it was sometimes impossible to turn it on, as if the power was not supplied. Only pulling out and reinserting the plug into the laptop helped. It happened once a week, say. I don't know if it has any importance in the diagnosis.

Start by replacing the DC-in plug

Then pass it what chip do you have in charger _power switch?
    - from the BQ24xxx or ISLxxxx or MB39A132 series?

There is no SM under K51AB Rev2.3

I gave my laptop to the service. The motherboard was damaged.

Topic summary

The ASUS K51A laptop is experiencing a failure to display the BIOS screen upon startup, despite the power LED and DVD drive functioning. The processor fan is not operational, and the laptop does not respond to power button presses for shutdown, requiring unplugging. Initial troubleshooting included testing with different RAM and power supplies, but the issue persisted. Users suspect a motherboard or processor failure, particularly the northbridge component, which is known to cause such symptoms. Suggestions include performing a CMOS reset, checking processor compatibility, and diagnosing the northbridge with a socket tester or heating method. Ultimately, the motherboard was confirmed to be damaged after professional assessment.
