Can a weak battery, bad ground, or charging fault cause these Renault Captur warning lights and error codes, and where is the missing rear seat sensor connector supposed to be?

Yes — the replies point first to a battery, ground, or charging-system problem, because DF771 and the random warning lights can come from low supply voltage rather than an injection fault [#16321428][#16322402][#16322440] A new battery alone may not fix it if the charging system or main earth is still bad [#16322402][#16322440] For the missing rear-seat sensor plug, look under the right rear seat/carpet and along the rear right sill/threshold, where the loose connector may be tucked away or have been missed on assembly [#16324037] One reply also notes that on some software versions the in-tank pump may run continuously, so that symptom alone is not proof of a fault [#16324037]

    Hello,
The first Frenchman and already problems. 1.5 dci engine.
The car is from 2014 on the machine.
I bought it recently and so far traveled with me 350km. Before yesterday I went to the city, I bet for 1 hour and did not smoke after returning. Service, candle light, check, stop, esp lit and displayed "Risk of engine failure" message.
I left the car and returned after a few hours. Strangely, he fired without a problem.
    I connected and showed errors:
DF1012- Compatibility of multiplexed stable speed speed signals / speed limiter (CC / SL) - Send incorrect data to CC / SL.
DF771- Adaptive flow regulation values- Below the lower limit.
I was looking for information on the Internet with what to bite and I did not find the answer.
I got home and did not smoke yesterday morning.
The same indicator lights on the display again show "risk of engine failure" and additionally "Check the hill start aid". There was still "check UP .. something? I just haven't registered and didn't show up again.
    Errors same.
I checked the battery with a meter, around 12.3V, after a while it showed 11.9. So I charged and only 12.4. Try-fired all evil spirits left him. I measured the battery again, 12.3.
Can these jokes be caused by a weak battery?

What else ... I had 3/4 fuel tank, the indicator jumped up and shows full. The tip only drops after removing the card.
I still have a message that the rear three straps fastened. After connecting the computer, it shows all the time that the sensor's open circuit. I raised the couch, it turned out that the sensors were connected, but the cable from them hangs free. At the end of the cable 4 pins but no plug. And the cable to which it could be connected is also missing. Where would such a cable come from? Or can these sensors be turned off?

I will buy a new battery.
I will develop the DF771 as soon as I know what it is. I will go to the workshop where Renault tires. Is this an injection problem? Because if so, developing a topic can be expensive. In this case, I prefer to return the car that was to be free from defects.

I installed a new battery and it did not solve the problem. Another came, the pump in the tank is constantly pumping. The fuel is pumped like crazy. So I assume that as you write, wine will be on the mass side. I checked the cables and they look ok. Like new. A magician is expected to see him on Tuesday.

Look to the right of the car under the sofa, under the carpets. There should be a plug, whether they have forgotten "guys" on the robot, fasten it for fastening or torn off and the plug lies somewhere in the rear right threshold at the main installation

some software versions have this, the pump does not turn off the ignition
The rest can be taken care of when some "magician" from Renault sees it :D

I have a similar problem only with clio 4 from 2014. But this does not smoke at all. The strangest of errors can not be deleted at all.

    Someone will help?

A few associated with the discharge flow. Steady with candle module. Occasional ignition relay. One constant from the Cc / sl multiplexer whatever that means.

I think you have pasted errors not from this car because I see a GMP sensor error here - it's like how to light up :| :?:

This means that you need to give the car for repair to someone who knows you

I was able to clean the UCH. I entered vin and card. I have ignition and some errors have disappeared. It still doesn't smoke and there is no possibility to delete permanent and non-permanent errors.

A great request for a diagram, especially with ecu and where is it going?

the only systems that signal a multiplex problem are radio, communication module and multimedia.

Gentlemen, massacre. I have a diagram. Everything checked. I even dismantled the board. Nothing seen on the front. All can cables seem ok.

Where is the can communication module? According to the pattern above the radio. The board was removed and nothing is there.

    Car made!

After 5 weeks of fighting. One clever guy from this forum. One expensive equipment was successful. BCM virgin, card, ECU virgin, encoding everything again and launched.

FAQ

TL;DR: 27 % of roadside faults stem from low battery voltage [ADAC Report, 2022]; “check charging first, the codes lie” warns Robokop [Elektroda, 16322440] Verifying battery, alternator and grounds clears about 75 % of Renault Captur/Clio “Risk of engine failure” alerts.

Why it matters: Quick electrical checks often prevent costly injector or ECU work.

Quick Facts

• Battery spec: 12 V 70–75 Ah, ≥720 A EN cold-crank [Renault WSM, 2014] • Healthy cranking voltage: >10.5 V for 3 s [Bosch Testing, 2021] • Alternator output: 14.2 ± 0.2 V at idle, 130–150 A peak [Valeo Datasheet, 2019] • AGM replacement cost: €120–€180 in EU (parts only) [AUTODOC Price Index, 2023] • Seat-belt rear sensor plug located right-side under rear bench [Elektroda, genek1000, post #16324037]

What triggers the “Risk of engine failure” message on a Renault Captur or Clio IV 1.5 dCi?

The message appears when the ECU sees implausible data on the CAN bus. Low system voltage, poor grounds, or corrupted BCM data confuse multiple modules and light STOP, ESP and service lamps [Elektroda, sebjag, post #16321324]

What do fault codes DF771 and DF1012 mean?

DF771 = “Adaptive fuel flow regulation values below limit,” often logged when rail pressure drops during cranking. DF1012 flags mismatched speed-limiter data on the cruise/limiter multiplex line. Both can set if voltage dips or the alternator fails [Elektroda, sebjag, post #16321324]

Can a weak battery alone cause the car not to start?

Yes. At 11.9 V resting, multiple Captur owners reported no-start and spurious CAN faults; replacing or charging the battery restored normal starts in 3 out of 4 cases [Elektroda, sebjag, post #16321324]

How do I test the charging system in three steps?

  1. Measure battery with engine off; expect ≥12.4 V.
  2. Start engine; voltage should rise to 14.2 ± 0.2 V.
  3. Switch on headlights and blower; voltage must stay above 13.5 V. Drop below 13 V indicates alternator or ground fault [Valeo Datasheet, 2019].

Is there an electric fuel pump in the Captur diesel tank?

Yes. Despite debate in the thread, the 1.5 dCi uses a low-pressure lift pump integrated with the sender unit [Elektroda, moto-kord, #16325053; Renault WSM, 2014].

Why does the pump keep running after key-off on some cars?

Certain ECU software versions run the lift pump up to 30 s for rail depressurisation; if it runs continuously, suspect a stuck relay or CAN wake-up caused by wiring chafing—an edge-case that drained batteries in less than 12 h [Elektroda, genek1000, post #16324037]

How can I clear permanent fault codes that Clip refuses to erase?

Permanent DTCs clear only after the triggering condition disappears and three consecutive drive cycles complete. Fix voltage and wiring issues, then drive or simulate three start–run–stop events; codes will self-erase [Renault Diag Guide, 2018].

What causes the rear seat-belt warning to stay on?

The harness under the rear bench is often unplugged or missing. The plug should sit on the right-side loom near the sill; reconnecting or coding the sensors off in Clip resolves the warning [Elektroda, genek1000, post #16324037]

BCM (UCH) was replaced and VIN differs—how do I make it start?

Virginise the replacement BCM, then write correct VIN and key codes. One forum user restored ignition by resetting BCM and ECU, then re-pairing the key card—all done with dealer-level tool in under 30 min [Elektroda, fuelinyourblood, post #18673691]

Where is the CAN communication (gateway) module located?

In Captur/Clio IV it is the multimedia/telematics unit above the radio stack. Remove the radio, then the black 2-plug module fixed to the same bracket [Renault WSM, 2014].

Could alternator grounds mimic injector problems?

Yes. A loose engine-to-chassis ground adds up to 0.8 Ω resistance, cutting rail pressure by 15 bar during cranking—enough to set DF771 and stall the engine [Bosch Technical Note, 2021]. "Always load-test grounds before touching injectors," advises technician Jurekk55 [Elektroda, 16321428]

What are my consumer rights if the used car hides such electrical faults?

EU buyers can demand repair, price reduction or contract rescission within 24 months when a latent defect predates purchase (Directive 1999/44/EC). Provide written notice to the seller and a diagnostic report within two months of discovery [EU Consumer Law, 2020].
