    Hello..

In the BMW E39 2.0 benz the left front ABS sensor was damaged - a typical symptom, it also showed on the computer ...

I bought a brand sensor according to VIN, due to the inability to replace it, I ordered the replacement by a "mechanic".

After receiving the light went out, ABS does not work with each press of the brake, you can see that a new cable protrudes from behind the hub.

However, ABS turns on without need at very low speeds, I can drive 120km / h and "pedal" - It brakes beautifully, to a speed of about 5km / h - then the ABS switches on until the wheels come to a full stop. At 15 km / h, the effect is similar. Only before stopping the wheels each time the ABS switches on regardless of the surface. The effect in the underground garage is the same.
Of course, I made a complaint, connected to the computer, showed nothing, and the specialist said that this model is so and nothing can be done about it ... - Despite the sublime tone, I could not force the complaint.

Can anyone tell me if it is the fault of the sensor itself or the mechanic simply could not mount it correctly? What is the effect of the abovementioned effect?

What speed does the ABS module see at these around 5 per hour? Maybe when they were removed, they damaged the bearing ring?

Unfortunately, I don't have a computer at my disposal to check it.
Could any photo from behind the hub help?
ABS module speeds probably also can not read ordinary OBD on bluetooth? No, no ... I can only read engine errors ...

So I can't foretell an unnecessary picture :-)
So how does it end up with this computer?

Photo - I meant a ring, will there be any damage visible in the photo?

The "computer" that I use is a Chinese bluetooth plug, the computer with which this sensor was diagnosed was no longer a mechanic's connector on the steering wheel but a large round connector under the hood.

See the ring yourself, you can't show the whole picture in one photo.
The round plug also shows wheel speeds.

The sensor probably just is too far from the ring.

After all, I put a preview picture, maybe something will catch someone's eyes ..
Naturally, I know that this is not a masterful photo, but I am not asking for criticism, because it is known that it is difficult to take a photo of the ABS sensor from a lying position, but maybe someone more familiar than me will notice something.

This is a very strange approach. What does it mean "that this model has so"? What does it mean that connected to a computer showed nothing? "Everything works just doesn't work" ...
If there are no errors, you can not see the speed of the wheels, then you can unscrew this sensor yourself and try to come out without resistance. The same should also loosely enter and only then it is to be tightened (secured) with a screw. If he was pressed forcibly and tightened without cleaning the hole, as you said above, he wrote that there may be too much distance between the sensor and the dial. As for your photo, you can see through the hole if the disc on the bearing is damaged.

No, this model is not at all, a problem in counting the pulse, and the mechanic should know this ABS behavior even without a computer. It's just a dumbass. Now the car "sees" less impulses from this wheel, so it recognizes that it is blocked and turns on the ABS. Very dangerous situation, because it disconnects the braking system, significantly extending the braking distance.

You're exaggerating Paweł. It's not like he sees fewer pulses, but only at low speed he can't see them at all. A problem known from Passats, Audi B5 etc., because there the sensor can eject itself.

Problem solved - After connecting the computer and checking the speed, the difference between the front wheels was 4 km / h.
The problem was dirt on the ring, after thorough washing the problem resolved.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around an issue with the ABS system in a BMW E39 2.0 (2000 model) after the replacement of a damaged left front ABS sensor. The user reports that the ABS activates unnecessarily at low speeds, despite the sensor being replaced correctly. Various responses suggest checking the ABS ring for damage, ensuring the sensor is properly positioned, and verifying wheel speed readings. Ultimately, the problem was resolved by cleaning dirt from the ABS ring, which had caused discrepancies in wheel speed readings between the front wheels.
