    Hello.
Today, on the occasion of other activities, I read the errors of individual modules. The first time something popped up in the gearbox, but I can not translate it meaningfully and I do not know whether to be afraid or to ignore it because the bug is fresh from this week.

At the bottom it says sporadischer Fehler - sporadic error, don't worry about it.

This is what I was able to translate :-) I am puzzled by the beginning of the CAN error. Does it only have to do with communication?

Yes, CAN has to do with communication. Is the ABS indicator on?

ABS lights up once and then not. This is in turn caused by a broken wire in the right front sensor and the ABS gives me such errors - no speed right front. The sensor is bought, only the weather is not favorable.

A fault in the ABS system will make the transmission "unstable", so the transmission computer shows a fault. BMW is sensitive to this. Error 149 in the bulletin is described: This means that the vehicle speed signal is not supplied via the CAN bus. This data should be provided by the ABS module.

So I remembered after your inquiry that I had single errors of the right rear ABS sensor, and yet there is a rear drive. I'll put it in order for days. Thanks!

I have one more question for you. INPA shows me such a gearbox parameter as "Oil Age" and I have 83%. And I don't know if more is better or less is better?

I have nothing about the "age of oil" in my scanner (Delphi, Launch and Texa).

I have such an indicator in the '' analog '' tab and it's called OIL AGEING and it shows 83%. I'll throw a screen, maybe tomorrow it will work.

Spring came, I decided to clean up the ABS. The replacement of the right front sensor and the improvement of the contacts in the right rear caused that for several days not a single ABS error and not a single transmission error. Thanks very much to romuald-f for pointing you to the right path.
Regarding the "age of oil" I am throwing a screen (87%, not 83% as I wrote):

After bringing the ABS in order, there are no errors to date - neither in the ABS, nor in the automatic transmission.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a 1999 BMW E46 316i experiencing an auto transmission error linked to ABS module faults. The initial error was identified as a "sporadic error," which raised concerns about its significance. Participants clarified that the CAN error pertains to communication issues, particularly with the ABS system, which can affect transmission stability. The author reported a faulty right front ABS sensor, which was later replaced, leading to the resolution of both ABS and transmission errors. Additionally, the author inquired about the "Oil Age" parameter, which indicated 83%, and later updated it to 87% after repairs. The overall consensus is that addressing the ABS issues resolved the transmission errors.
