    Hello,
I've been struggling with the problem in BMW x5, 2003 for some time. At the beginning I had to replace the whole meter in the car. The electrician programmed and everything worked well. Then I changed the old Rechargeable battery to a new one, and then the problems started ....
The ABS, DSC, HANDBRAKE lights are on and the SPEEDOMETER does not work while driving, it also does not count the kilometers traveled and fuel consumption ... After connecting to the computer, it shows the lack of communication abs ...
Everyone advised me to check the ABS driver, because in these models it's the models that fall. Today he was checked on the repair table, the work is working properly and the electrician said that he is certainly not a problem ...
Can someone advise and have a similar problem?

Thanks for the answer. I'm green in these matters, I thought coding only in newer models ...
Can you say how it is done? Do you have to go to the BMW service or can you program it yourself somehow?

impa program should do it. I do not know how to use this model but for example in e60 you have to code.

I do not know why you're combing yourself. Everything is clear here. Either no ABS power supply or no communication, i.e. a beam fault. The oscilloscope will tell you the truth. Start with power.

    Kolego Pawel wawa,
I do not bury, these are the prints and information from my mechanics (two already buło) who are already playing in the car a week of time,
and they can not find the reason ... Today I'm going to the next one, we'll see what it can do ...
I'm looking for help, since no one from the p2p elettists can help me, I was looking for help here on the forum,
Well, maybe one of the Users had a similar problem ..... so much Sir. Admin.

So today abs control returned to me from tests. The foreman said that he is 100% efficient and that he is not the cause of the problem. Before I had to go to the electrician and hand him under the computer, I had to reconnect it to the car. I cleaned the plug before connection, and ... a miracle happened! The controls have gone out! so I guess it would clean the only contacts of the controller and the plug ... I do not know how long it will help, but it works ...
However, there was a slightly different problem. Under the car, more from the back of the car, appeared
continuous humming, bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb type, it is not so loud but annoying .... Only what can it be?

I do not believe that a real car electrician can not diagnose what is the reason for the lack of communication with the ABS module. I told you what to check, so I should thank you for guidance.

Unplug the driver and see if the buzz disappears. Probably, however, I am somewhat right and moving the beam causes repair of some, and the appearance of other faults.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a 2003 BMW X5 e53 experiencing issues with the ABS, DSC, and HANDBRAKE indicator lights being illuminated, alongside a non-functional speedometer, odometer, and fuel consumption readings. The user initially replaced the car's meter and battery, after which the problems began. Despite checking the ABS driver, which was deemed functional, the user sought further advice. Responses suggested that the new battery may need coding, which is applicable even in older models like the e53. The user was advised to check for power supply issues or communication faults with the ABS module. After reconnecting and cleaning the ABS controller's plug, the warning lights turned off, indicating a potential solution through contact cleaning.
