    Hello, I have to replace the rear shaft seal in the vw passat b6 2.0 tdi, the original seal with a magnetic ring No. 038 103 173 a / 038 103 170 b, the client brought me a newer seal with a serrated ring, not magnetic, newer model No. 03 l 103173/03 l 103 170 b or can it be used with a new sensor suitable for the new seal and ring? .Thank you in advance for your help .

    As far as I know, they are not interchangeable, but I might be wrong. As a rule, I replace the part as it was, and in this case there was a magnetic ring and it should be. Whoever repairs the car, you or the owner, the latter pays for the work, and you are left with probable problems in this case. This is not a light bulb, 5 minutes of work.

    Exactly as you write, the owner had to buy as he was, this problem has already been solved.
