Hello forum users! I'm new here so please be forgiving :) I have a problem in Yaris, I noticed that the light from the headlights is glowing and the right headlight is on, probably not with all the power filament from these lights - it has been so far .. a familiar mechanic advised me to give extra weight. I tried but it did not give anything and I do not know if I accidentally did some short circuit because now the right passing is shining fainter and the long one is not at all. When I turn on the road, the passing diminishes a bit. The problem concerns only the right side. Has anyone had a similar situation? Please help.

Check the fuses under the hood. From what I remember, the plus goes common to the light bulb, the control is done mass.

The right headlight fuse was burnt - it's probably by trying to connect the extra mass .. Now the matter is as follows: the road indicator light glows gently as it did at the beginning? What is going on?

Check the lamp voltages, plus and two masses, when passing / driving. Replace the bulbs in the lamp.

Ok, I'll take care of it tomorrow because I don't have a garage light ;) I will only add that after turning off the road indicator gradually darkens but does not disappear completely.

A light bulb closes the circuit and glows. Check the connectors on the lamps. Raid, corrosion, sometimes melt.

Okay! Tomorrow I will check it all and let you know what and how. Thanks for the help! :)

So yes ... I made measurements and it looks like what I present in the picture (I hope it looks quite clear) Toyota Yaris 1.3 2011 - Dimming Front Right Headlight, Possible Short Circuit, Troubleshooting

I also noticed that someone was probably replacing the bulb cube ... Is it possible that some wires are connected the other way round and we have the effect?
I looked at the lights today and it looks like:
Lights on passing the left headlight ok, the right gives after the knobs
I turn on the driving lights, left headlamp ok, right passing beam
The same happens when "blinking" left ok right lights low (on the wall)

So swap 1 of 2? Looking at your diagram of course.

If it is otherwise, then yes.

Hi. Today I have switched connectors and everything seems to be fine. After switching connectors, I took a meter and checked the voltages:
    1. Low beam switched on - common contact + low beam contact = something like 10v
Common plus road contact = something around 2v
    2. High beam switched on - common contact + passing = something around 5v
Common + road contact approx. 10v
Why such results should be like this?
And generally, it seems to me that the right light worries worse, but maybe it seems to me.

There will be more on the firing, these smaller voltages are going through something in a row, e.g. control lamp, second bulb.

When I measure the voltage from the cube, it shows after about 12 volts, i.e. it's ok. And when I put the bulb in the cube and touch the meter (from the back) to connectors, I get the results as in the post above (Maybe you shouldn't measure that ??? ). Lights shine as they should. I just don't know if I have to worry that something is still not as it should be? : /

When you measure on the ankle only, it goes full, no load. When you plug in the bulbs, it's a drop because the fiber is shining.

Okay then the topic is over!
The official reason for a badly lit right light is swapped connectors: /
Thank you buddy for patience and help to the end! :) Regards

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a 2011 Toyota Yaris experiencing issues with the front right headlight, which is dimming and possibly short-circuited. The user initially noticed that the right headlight was not functioning at full power and sought advice on troubleshooting. Responses included checking fuses, lamp voltages, and connectors for corrosion or incorrect wiring. The user discovered a burnt fuse and later identified that swapped connectors were causing the lighting issues. After correcting the connections, the headlight functioned properly, although some voltage readings raised concerns about potential underlying issues. The final consensus was that the swapped connectors were the primary cause of the dim lighting.
