Hello, I have good years now and this error came out for the first time. I wrote to Brother, of course they replied: "The filter cartridge can only be replaced by an Authorized Service Partner ..."
But from what I can see, you can somehow reset the equipment, e.g. here https://www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/topic2669104.html but I do not know if this procedure will suit me. I have never cleaned the printer because I have not seen such a need (however, as I compare with other printers, I have the impression that mine is not so sharp, so to speak, but maybe it's the fault of her years? Or maybe I can improve it?)

You press MENU-START MONO-MENU-START MONO, then up arrow until it is 80, press OK, then press START MONO until it is PURGE, then up arrow until it is "2" - press OK, up arrow "7" - press OK, press the up arrow "8" OK, up arrow "3" press the OK. The PURGE counter will show all zeros. You pull out the power plug and insert it again. You turn on the printer. Error 46 will disappear. Of course, according to SM, this mode should come out differently, but it can be so. If the head quality test indicates deficiencies, head cleaning must be done. To start with from the control panel.

Galecki wrote there that you have to press MENU when turning on the printer? because as it is turned on it does not go very well

Ok I did it as he wrote and it worked. It wrote Purge 9645 and later 0000 and the message is gone.
    Head quality test?

So I did 2: 1 print quality, which is good, but I have doubts about the test http://support.brother.com/g/s/id/htmldoc/mfc/dcp195c/en/html/ug/appendix12_3_8 .html I did it several times and every time number 5 is different from 0, because I hope I understood it correctly: I have to choose in every resolution the number that is the closest to number 5

Here is a picture with a difference Brother DCP-135C - Error 46 "the ink absorber cartridge is full"
On the left a copy of the original probably made somewhere in the store, and on the right a copy made in my printer (of which I scanned at 1200DPI and printed with the highest quality)

I guess I'll have to do some major cleaning. For some time, he reads the ink level badly, there is still a lot of black because when he takes it out there is still a lot of it, and all the time he writes that he will prepare a new ink because little, and not once a red exclamation mark pops up before cleaning, that it seems empty - it had to be clogged or dried up, because replacing it with another black has not improved anything, I will add that when I put in a new mascara, after cleaning I pressed the cleaning, unless, so to speak, sucked some mascara, but this sound was different than even if the tape jammed and the test printout came out terrible - barely visible with long breaks. Also the sound during printing of this test was as if it was different so slightly high-pitched.
What's worse later, the folded card slightly grinded ... instead of stopping immediately it probably pushed it away for 10 seconds ... of course I took out how much I saw but 1/4 was left and somehow spit out in pieces later. But now as it prints tests it is a massacre. Because no matter that I think I misunderstand and press these tests in the line, now through this paper which is jammed the pages come out very dirty with black or colors in the form of black stripes on the whole sheet of such medium visible, but nevertheless a brush by accident touch the page.
Given that it has never been cleaned in those eight years, maybe it's time? if so, to the first better website that deals with such matters or to the company?
