Not enough colleague provided information. among others what is the current partition layout, etc. Paste the disk management dump into computer management and describe roughly how busy individual partitions are.

Reduce the partition with what you have by some value, maybe by several GB. The linux installer should do the rest.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around installing a Linux distribution on a Samsung N150 PLUS, which currently runs Windows XP SP3. Users express concerns about the feasibility of installing Linux without altering existing partitions or risking data loss. Suggestions include reducing the current partition size to create space for Linux, as well as using a USB drive for installation. A lightweight Linux distribution, AntiX, is recommended for this older Intel Atom-based machine.
