    Hello
I have a question if in terms of size, all SSD drives fit laptops?
I have installed a drive in my desktop computer and I am satisfied with the results of its operation. Now I would like to put it in the netbook. But I don't know what drive would be good for that. Will every 2.5 approach? I heard that sometimes it is millimeters.
    I have a Samsung N150.

    A 2.5 '' disk is a 2.5 '' disk - I don't know where you've heard that it can differ in "millimeters".
If the netbook has a 2.5 '' drive, any SSD will fit.

As for the dimensions of the disks, there are problems with ultrabooks.

So I understand that I can insert such a disk into the Samsung N150 netbook without a problem.

Hello, if you can, let me continue the thread. I am a layman when it comes to "assembling computers", and you can learn a lot here.

my question is, if it actually fits my laptop (Asus), then:
    1. Does it install it in place of the old disk? Is there a chance I can have both drives running simultaneously?
    2. Can such a disk be used later for a desktop computer?

Thank you for your help ;)

    1. This is how you install the disk in place of the previous one.
Yes, you can buy an adapter and put a second disk in the place of the DVD drive.
    2. if it is a SATA drive: yes, you can put it in a desktop computer, at most you need to buy a "sled" 2.5 "-> 3.5" (to screw it on).
You can also IDE disks, but with them there is a bigger problem and here I would say: it's not worth it.

Sometimes in laptops some disks are very thin and then normal 2.5 disks do not fit, it is worth paying attention to this.

    1. I also received information that the HDD drive from a laptop can be put in a "pocket" and used through the USB port as an external drive, is that true?
    2. If I use the USB 3.0 port, I will lose a lot of speed?
    3. How large a laptop SSD would I need to equip? Currently, I have 320GB HDD in my laptop, when it comes to the software I use is standard Windows 7, AutoCAD, Photoshop, a few CS games: go or grid2?
I would download the rest of the data to the HDD.

1.Yes you can, you buy a regular HDD bay and you can put any disk into it (as long as the interfaces match)
    2. hard to say. it will be slower for sure
    3. It just depends on you.

Thank you very much for the formation, at the end one question .. Do you recommend any particular brand or model of such a disk? I am thinking about the size of 240-320 GB.

It is not profitable to buy 320GB, compare the prices. I think 500-750GB is much better.

Everyone will have different favorite drives based on their experience. In my opinion: "WD Blue" works great - cheap and relatively fast.

    Hello
I will not discuss the rules, but I will confirm your concerns, in my 10 "HP the disk fell, as far as I remember it was a 160GB disk, I ran to the store, I bought a 320GB disk and a flap .... it did not fit, the matter was urgent and away from home so in a supermarket I bought a tethered USB drive :) and gently took it out of the casing, and again the flap, like the previous one, was too thick, only the third disc pulled out of the casing fit without any problems.
It was 5 years ago, but recently a friend gave me a large number of 2.5 "drives to test, I guarantee you that they are of different thickness, now without measuring the original I would not take the risk of replacing the disk in the laptop.
    Regards
Ps. 80% of the failed drives I have for testing are WD Blue 500GB, but maybe it's a coincidence.

Topic summary

The discussion centers around the compatibility of 2.5-inch SSDs with the Samsung N150 netbook, addressing concerns about size variations among SSDs. It is confirmed that standard 2.5-inch SSDs will fit in the Samsung N150, although caution is advised regarding thicker drives, particularly those exceeding 9 mm, as they may not fit. Users also discuss the potential for using SSDs in other devices, such as desktops, and the possibility of using an HDD in an external USB enclosure. Recommendations for SSD brands and sizes are provided, with a preference for larger capacities like 500-750GB over smaller ones.
