Hello, I forgot my BIOS password. Can anyone tell what pins to short-circuit or where to remove the batteries?

    Hello,
it's not that simple. Theoretically, it is impossible, the manufacturer claims that you need to replace the motherboard, disk, etc. (against payment), etc.
    One of my colleagues:
    https://www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/topic3326136.html#16386842
says he knows how to do it.
    Maybe make contact with him.

    Regards

@ boro1234567 - thank you for the hint. Now buddy, just tell me where she is because I can't find it

@krzysiek_krm - I read the instructions and actually write it. Unfortunately, I can't find the motherboard's manual or at least some listings. Thank you for the hint about another Lenovo

When it comes to the battery, look for a type of "button" similar to a watch on a disc.
This, however, will probably do nothing. ThinkPads are business computers with many different perverse protections, if they could be bypassed by a banal removal of the battery it would be pointless.
The manufacturer tells you to replace the disc, disk and what else, hackers supposedly invented some holds to delete, possibly "rolling" the "security chip", although this is rather the operation at your own risk.
As for the instructions, look on the manufacturer's website in the resources for your model under the slogan "hardware maintenance manual", I once found my (quite old T61p).
    Maybe this:
    https://thinkpads.com/support/hmm/hmm_pdf/helix_hmm_en_0c10337_01.pdf
In general, ThinkPads have rather easily available documentation and, in total, good support (from the producer and various communities).

Removing the battery will not remove the password.

You asked for a battery and I told you.
As for the password, remove the battery and you will see if I am right.

Consider what all these fancy safeguards would be for.
Someone steals your computer, pulls out the battery and has everything unlocked.
When I bought my T61p, the seller made me aware not to enter the password "on the hook", because after a few (I don't remember how many) incorrect entries, the "security chip" will be blocked for a few or several hours and will not accept anything at all.

@krzysiek_krm - I know it is not easy and I will not even disassemble the laptop / tablet to check. I thought @boro1234567 knows how to give such advice. I searched a little deeper and it turns out that American ebay has '' the whole industry '' associated with circumventing Lenovo passwords. They sell ready-made pre-programmed BIOS chips for a specific Lenovo model, or only bypass instructions if replacement is not necessary. I'm at the stage of searching for my model

As I mentioned, talk to a colleague from the electrode, he claims that he knows how to do it in R61, maybe he knows something about yours and he will be able to help you.
We all hope you are, of course, the legal owner. :!:

@krzysiek_krm - will confirmation that I am something change? But I confirm - unfortunately I am.
A little off-topic - the laptop was supposed to be an opportunity, but I regret it. I knew ThinkPads were good quality business laptops (that's why I decided), but I didn't think that hacking would be so bothersome. Caution for buyers - check the specific laptop model and do not assume that it will definitely get done quickly, because especially in the case of Lenovo it is unlikely

But I didn't mean anything bad. I mentioned it just in case, because probably someone who decides to help you may ask. Lenovo's offer of "replacing half of the computer due to lost password" also stipulates that it must check the legality of the machine's origin.
You are just very fortunate. These are very good computers, although some owners claim that this is not the same as when IBM did them "personally", but it is still one of the highest shelves. Just don't forget your passwords.

@krzysiek_krm - I didn't forget my password, I just bought 'in this condition'. I have an invoice, so I'm calm

@ sylweksylwina - I am not an expert on Lenovo, but Google says it is the first generation. Product name: 37015D8 - that's all you can find

Of course, the method described in the link is not free.

Of course it is free, but in my case it is quite complicated. I paid someone from Lithuania who introduced himself to his auction on ebay as a longtime employee of an authorized Lenovo service for providing a way to bypass the password. In the reply I got a copy of the solution from the Romanian website allservice.ro. I have to say that Romanian colleagues have Lenovo worked out and if anyone has a similar problem then they should start there. I will even make a statement. that if they don't have a way around it, nobody seems to have one. To sum up - the described method is completely free and in my case it takes 15 minutes including disassembly of the laptop / tablet.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the issue of a forgotten BIOS password on a Lenovo ThinkPad Helix. Users share insights on potential solutions, including the removal of the battery and short-circuiting specific pins on the motherboard. However, it is noted that simply removing the battery is unlikely to reset the password due to the advanced security measures in place. Some participants mention that Lenovo may require motherboard replacement for password recovery, while others suggest contacting individuals with expertise in bypassing Lenovo passwords. Resources such as hardware maintenance manuals and online forums are recommended for further assistance. The conversation highlights the complexities involved in accessing locked Lenovo devices and the existence of services that offer password bypass solutions.
