    Hello.
Yesterday I noticed that fluid was flowing from under 3 heads. The gasket broke, Scania year 2011. Is it true that these engines are faulty?
Because I haven't encountered such a thing yet and in the workshops they say that the whole engine needs to be disassembled up and down and the sleeves removed.

Why faulty ?? Blown gasket after 6 years of operation is not a big deal. Remove the heads, replace the gasket and the head

    Hello

I am afraid that in the workshop they were right if the cylinder block is of the second generation and this is indicated by the yearbook it is a plague. It corrodes the engine block and then you need to ream the sleeve holder if the pitting is not too large and use over the dimensioned sleeve. material, you need to drill a block and use a ring after mounting, you can use the old sleeve. Of course, there is the right equipment for it, which can be done literally on the road without pulling the engine but the price kills!

The car is going to the service tomorrow, I will write what it is.
Very high costs as you need to disassemble the engine.

I doubt it's a seal. I bet on the upper sleeve O-ring. The only question is whether there are pits in the block. Mostly O-rings and seals do the trick. I do it lately often. In Scania 4 such work usually falls around 1.7-2 million km and the younger the car the faster. In R-12L such work already occurs within 700 thousand km. These are my observations. By the way, pay attention to the condition of the connecting rods. Pozdr.

@ Tomek-pond As you wrote pits, there is no clean on the site say that how to do up and down to the orings and how to do 2 heads, why not the whole set at once.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around engine issues in a 2011 Scania R 420, specifically fluid leakage from under three heads due to a broken gasket. Responses indicate that a blown gasket after six years is not uncommon and can be resolved by replacing the gasket and heads. However, concerns arise regarding the second-generation cylinder block, which is prone to corrosion and may require extensive repairs, including reaming sleeve holders and using oversized sleeves. The condition of the connecting rods and the presence of pits in the block are also highlighted as critical factors. The author plans to take the vehicle to service for a thorough diagnosis and repair.
