    Hello,

I need to set up a VPN server in order to remotely connect to our local area network in an office overseas.
I have a TP Link Archer C58 router that supports OpenVPN.

I configured (it seems to me) a server on the router:
TP Link Archer C58 OpenVPN Server Setup: Connecting to Local Area Network Remotely Overseas

I generated and exported the configuration file, pasted it to the appropriate folder in OpenVPN.
I switch to my second internet (play 4G pre-paid), run OpenVPN, try to connect and get the following logs:

    Mon Jun 05 15:43:54 2017 OpenVPN 2.4.2 x86_64-w64-mingw32 [SSL (OpenSSL)] [LZO] [LZ4] [PKCS11] [AEAD] built on May 11 2017

    Mon Jun 05 15:44:55 2017 SIGUSR1[soft,tls-error] received, process restarting

I would like to add that we have a neostrada fiber in the office. The modem is connected to the Orange Funbox 2.0 via an Ethernet cable and the Archer C58 router is connected to it. When I connect wirelessly to the TP Link router, I can use the internet normally.
I have the IP on this router set to hard:

I didn't set up the connection between the routers in any way, I just connected them with a cable. This could be the problem?

Port forwarding for OpenVPN server on Orange router did you do?

you must use the public address of the server

As above, on the router's WAN you must have a public IP visible from the internet.

    I did not do.

The point is? TP Link Archer C58 OpenVPN Server Setup: Connecting to Local Area Network Remotely Overseas

Or maybe someone knows if it is possible to connect the Orange modem directly to the TP Link router, bypassing the funbox completely?
When I connect the modem directly to the router, I cannot access the Internet. You need to log in to FunBox using your neostrada login and password.

The router would have to support vlan and pppoe on the wan port.

This router seems to me to do that

We don't understand each other. This router, in the attached image, may have dynamic WAN address assignment, which doesn't mean the address is PUBLIC. From another picture it looks like a static PRIVATE 192.168.1.41 address and you won't do anything on a private one, unless you have access to the provider's router and you can redirect there.

After all, in neostrada there are public ip (but unfortunately dynamic). And this private author got it from a funbox.

Well, it must redirect to Funbox, or set it to bridge (I don't know this famous box) and get DDNS, since there is a dynamic address

I have access to both routers. This screenshot is just a screenshot from the Internet access configuration stage, I wanted to check if it supports PPPoE.

Yes, the .41 is the one I got from FunBox.

I was able to arrange a login and password for neostrada. In later hours I will try to connect directly to the modem. Then it should be easier to put a VPN, I understand?

Keep trying. But the chances of it working are slim. You would need something a bit better than a soho router.

Which Funbox is it? Because there are some problems with the latest 3rd:

The 'problems' are that the funbox 3 has an ontk and a router in one housing, so the orange optical fiber goes directly into the device. So there is no way to connect to _ instead of_ the orange router, you can only follow it.

And when it comes to port forwarding from FunBox, this is what we're talking about:

    ?

Added after 2 [hours] 53 [minutes]:

Typing in the public IP address helped. OpenVPN connects to a given IP address. Now I have another problem / question:
How to get to a folder shared by one of the computers (one of the computers has a shared folder that can be seen on other computers in the local network).
I connect remotely to the TP link router and the computer is connected to the Fun Box with a cable

    Hello,

I am back to the topic.
I got rid of the orange router. Now only TP-LINK is left.
On this router, I start the vpn server, generate a certificate, upload the certificate to the computer with the program and to the client computer that will connect to the external network.

I can access this computer's shared folder by typing in its IP address given by OpenVPN, but to run the program, I have to get to it normally as if via the local network, by computer name, not by IP. When I click on a network, it does not search for any devices on the local network.

Does anyone know how to configure it?

Enter ip / hostname in the "hosts" file on windows, windows / system32 / drivers / etc / hosts

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around setting up an OpenVPN server on a TP Link Archer C58 router to enable remote access to a local area network from overseas. The user initially faced issues with connecting to the VPN, primarily due to the need for a public IP address and proper port forwarding on the Orange FunBox router. After troubleshooting, the user successfully connected to the VPN using the public IP address. They later transitioned to using only the TP Link router and sought assistance in accessing shared folders on a local computer by hostname rather than IP address. Suggestions included modifying the "hosts" file on Windows to resolve hostname issues.
