Hello, I have a problem with the old model of the Stihl FS 80 brushcutter, I have no spark, I have a question how to check the ignition coil?

I still have such a question, there is such a small device under the manual starter, is it a capacitor?

The photos show what the Stihla model is.

Under the cutter? That black ball? It's a fuel pump to start!

As mentioned above, it is a fuel pump button (we use it before starting the engine, especially when it is cold). Check the HV wire, whether it is torn from the HV coil, whether the wire from the ignition switch is not chafed and does not come into contact with e.g. the engine crankcase (metal), whether the HV coil is properly fixed, i.e. with a minimum gap between the magnet wheel and the HV coil . Replace the spark plug with a good one and pull the starter more vigorously.

The scythe is rather lukewarm, so in my opinion it will probably be a "box" with a traditional interrupter. Unscrew the screw and you will probably find out that it will be an ignition module. Read type, name etc ..

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around troubleshooting a Stihl FS 80 petrol brushcutter that is experiencing a lack of spark. Users suggest checking the high voltage (HV) wire for damage, ensuring the ignition coil is properly fixed with an appropriate gap from the magnet wheel, and replacing the spark plug. The small silver box under the manual starter is identified as an electronic circuit breaker or ignition module, which should also be inspected along with the associated wiring and switch. The brushcutter is noted to be over 20 years old and made in Japan, indicating its vintage status.
