    Hello,
I am asking for help in finding a place to connect with additional power sockets / cigarette lighter. At the moment, I have one such socket, factory-fitted on the central tunnel. First, it is a power outlet not a cigarette lighter and I want to replace it. Hence the question if I can find a cable for powering the backlight there. Secondly, after removing the bacon in the trunk of the hatchback, will I find the power cables for the socket in the estate version? Thirdly, where I find the culvert between the engine compartment and the interior, and what I need to disarm for this (of course, I would like as little as possible). Thank you in advance for your help.

    Doubtful.

No, copper is too expensive according to skoda accountants.

On the bulkhead wall, more or less below the meter. You have to disassemble the plastics above your legs and a few lumber above them and, as I remember, the pit and access as if you want to replace the pistons through the exhaust pipe. Either make your hole in the bulkhead wall or take power from the fuse box like a white man.

Not that the point that I'm picking on, but how is the cigarette lighter socket different from the power socket in the car? As I remember in my room, there was not even 3 centimeters of redundant cable there, so you can forget about the installation of equipment for which you did not pay on delivery!

Ok thank you for the answers. I will take the socket backlight from the door locking switch backlight; I will supply power from the fuse box to the additional sockets (hope that the box itself is powered by some reasonable cross-section). And the cigarette lighter socket, unlike the power socket, has a bimetallic plate around the terminal that allows the use of a cigarette lighter.

After buying Fabia 2 2008, my friend had a socket, but without a cigarette lighter.

Hmm, the fact is that for several years I have not used the lighter in the car, but when I used it, the bimetal was always in the lighter, not the socket, in the sense of the part that fired the pipe. In the center there was a spiral made of metal which, after pressing the lighter, touched + and the outer casing went negative. As in the base of the lighter (i.e. next to the handle), the bimetal heated up, the spiral jumped away from the plus in the socket and stopped heating. But since you write that now the bimetal has moved to the socket .... maybe it is!

In the photos below, with a red circle I marked the differences between the power socket and the lighter socket. The bimetal has always been in the socket (except for the solutions from the 40's and 50's). But never mind. When it comes to solving my problem, I actually did not find a cable to illuminate the socket. In addition, the cross section of the power cord also did not arouse my confidence. Therefore, I led both directly from the fuse box. Here, great appreciation for the constructors: powering the box with a cable of at least 10mm2 (by the eye), a lot of free space for fuses, easy to add additional contacts. Thank you to colleagues recki-quadra and sk700 for their kind answers.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the installation of an additional cigarette lighter socket in a Fabia II 1.4MPI hatchback. The user seeks guidance on connecting a new socket, replacing the existing power outlet, and locating power cables in the trunk. Responses indicate that the existing power socket differs from a cigarette lighter socket, primarily due to the presence of a bimetallic plate in the latter, which allows for the use of a lighter. Suggestions include sourcing power from the fuse box and concerns about the adequacy of the existing wiring. The user plans to use the backlight from the door locking switch for illumination and appreciates the robust design of the fuse box for adding additional contacts.
