As in the topic in J3, the screen backlight is on all the time, even when the phone is dimmed, so the battery drains very quickly. What is the cause of this and is it worth fixing?

In J3 the display is Amoled so there is no backlight.

So why if I lock the phone and look against the light, I can see that it is on, even though it is black all the time?

It is not very visible in the photo. It's just that the display, when locked, is black, but if it is against the light, it is as if bright from the bottom, it turns completely off only when you remove the battery.

In the second photo, the phone is blank but turned on. You can see best what is happening in the lower left corner
In the first photo, the phone is turned off completely

The question is whether you have a Chinese equivalent of the display mounted there, but made on an ordinary LCD. Have you installed any display replacement there?

J3 in the 2016 version, i.e. the J320 model with different tips, has an AMOLED display originally mounted, exactly the same model that is used in the J500, only the glass is different. Everything on the LCD is a Chinese invention and their way of preventing cheap counterfeiting of AMOLED displays.

The display is definitely a Chinese replacement, the J3 has an Amoled screen that has no backlight.

Sorry, I was actually wrong, it was only in the 2017 version that Samsung swapped Amoled for TFT in J3. Maybe the author of the topic has the J3 2017 version after all? Or someone, as part of the "repair", pressed the guts of J3 2017 into the housing from J3 2016

The sticker under the battery shows j320fn. So it can be fixed or not?

Put on the original display and you'll probably be fine.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the persistent screen backlight issue on the Samsung J3 2016 model, which leads to rapid battery drainage. Users clarify that the J3 originally features an AMOLED display, which does not have a backlight. However, there are concerns that a replacement display, possibly a cheaper LCD variant, may have been installed, causing the backlight to remain on. The original poster indicates that their device is identified as J320FN, suggesting it may have been modified or repaired incorrectly. The consensus is that replacing the display with an original AMOLED screen could resolve the issue.
