I'm looking for a good 6A charger. At the Lucart distributor, I was recommended the Schumacher charger, I was a bit worried about this brand, it is probably quite well known, but for the first time I buy this type of equipment and I am not familiar with the subject. I would like to keep the battery in good condition, so the charger must be Cossack and able to charge even a deeply discharged battery. What do you think is worth buying this Schumacher? anyone used such a charger?

I use Schumacher for a gel battery and I do not complain, a reliable and proven brand :) Mine even has a special fan that cools the device and the display informing about the% charge. For PLN 350-400 you should find one, unless Lucart already suggested one for you there? most of those sold on Allegro etc. are from this distributor anyway

It is better to order 10A, it will be useful and you can charge without overloading the charger with 6A current.

They suggested something like this to me (I don't know if it's exactly the same one I talked about, I don't know if I searched well) http://sklep.lucart.pl/schumacher-spi6-6a-ladowarka-prostownik-12v-p-1620.html the fan is in this, there is a digital display, hook, etc.

Will 10A pay for me? probably more expensive, and I don't know if I need 10A, why would it be better?

schumachers solid, very good cooling and good display, I had a bosch before and it was not good, in turn outdated

What is outdated at CTEK? Because there is probably no animated display? :)

There may be something in it, here is a comparison of schumachers with ctek's

I'm preparing to buy this spi6 schumacher. I would like to ask you if you can safely charge the battery in the car without disconnecting it from the clamp? What voltages does the charger provide during charging?

You can certainly charge - what would be the meaning of such expensive chargers as if they did not allow such something? I only use CTEK.

WHAT to voltage, take a look at the instructions - ctekx can give over 14 (or 15 heads off) in the appropriate mode (to be selected manually).

This is important information. For example, in Recond Cteka mode the voltage is supplied to 15.8V. I see that the schumacher SPI6 also has a similar function (recovery) where the voltage is higher than with standard charging. Unfortunately, nowhere can I get information on the voltage of the charger in each mode. For example, in Ctek it is nicely shown in the table. In addition, I would like to ask someone who uses such a charger to write reviews about how it works, etc. Does the charger make electrolyte density?

Topic summary

The discussion centers around the Schumacher 6A charger, specifically the SPI6 model, recommended by the Lucart distributor for charging deep-cycle batteries, including acid, gel, and AGM types. Users express confidence in Schumacher's reliability, noting features such as a cooling fan and a digital display for charge percentage. Some participants suggest considering a 10A charger for better performance without overloading, while others inquire about the charger's ability to charge batteries in situ without disconnection. Comparisons with other brands like CTEK highlight the Schumacher's recovery mode, which provides higher voltage for deeply discharged batteries. Users seek detailed specifications regarding voltage outputs during different charging modes.
