As in the subject, I had an Android 6 phone and everything worked fine. After upgrading to 7nougat, I lost the ability to turn on WiFi. Not that it does not see any networks, it just tries to turn on "on" and so much on the topic - the slider returns to the OFF position.

In addition, I noticed that Bluetooth also does not work, for me it is less important, but maybe it has to do with WiFi. With Bluetooth, it sometimes turns on and displays devices, but I can not send anything.

I've already tried the factory reset, but with the wipe I noticed something disturbing:

Samsung A5 - SM-A510F: WiFi & Bluetooth Malfunction Post Android 7 Nougat Upgrade

I also tried recovery from a smart switch, but I have to enter the recovery code I do not know. The phone is from Germany and it turns out that someone was already doing something there.

I also tried to upload the Polish Xeo Softs from Odin, German DBT downloaded from SamFirm, some progression when I uploaded DBT with Android 6 marshall, because with wipe there was no error.

Anyway, there is no WiFi, no switching, and my hands are already falling :(

The factory settings do not give any result. ADres Mac is displayed, Wifi Version is 0 and it does not work.

I do not know if I understand correctly, but when I try to install software with smart switch I get a message that I will install PDA, CSC, PHONE version with CKQ3 terminals.

After installation, the version number changes to just that, but the modem version remains unchanged:

From what I read the versions should be identical? It's a damage to the module, it's just weird that after updating the android from 6 to 7.

There is no valid download file in this link, only a mirror with a transfer for 2 days of downloading - is there any alternative?

Okay, we'll wait. The downloaded file should contain 4 files, successively to be loaded with the Odin program (BL + AP + CP + CSC) plus unpacked from the CSC PiT with the AutoReboot + RePartition + F.Reset.Time options selected. Is everything correct?

PiT does not have to be and repartition do not tick too.

In the end I sucked in, I started, but from what I see it or the program has hung up, or waiting for PiT?

Added after 16 [hours] 24 [minutes]:

I have a small problem here, because the file I downloaded from your link did not want to take off at all.
So I decided to put on the phone system 6.0.1 where the wipe was not an error E: misc partition like from the photo from the first post:

Samsung A5 - SM-A510F: WiFi & Bluetooth Malfunction Post Android 7 Nougat Upgrade

Here in this system, the modem version has also changed, theoretically correct because the same as the software version:

Samsung A5 - SM-A510F: WiFi & Bluetooth Malfunction Post Android 7 Nougat Upgrade

The attempt to upload your "recovery" has failed, probably at boot.bin:

Samsung A5 - SM-A510F: WiFi & Bluetooth Malfunction Post Android 7 Nougat Upgrade

Yesterday I returned to the old "working systems" several times and with each trial I was blurted by the "System Rev. Check Fail" error with the differences between DEVICE and BINARY numbers, DEVICE: 1, BINARY: 0 - and I had DEVICE: 3, BINARY: 4.

I am currently loading the phone again, because it lay all night on the "Recovery SMartSwitch" display - after charging I will make further installation attempts.

If you have any suggestions, please write to me if this file from the link is definitely in my A5 version. When searching for a firmware on a sammobile, 3 versions are available for selection:

Samsung A5 - SM-A510F: WiFi & Bluetooth Malfunction Post Android 7 Nougat Upgrade

My model is A5 (6) SM-A510F or the middle option of choice.

The version is two A510F and A510FD so your A510F is correct, but as I wrote at the very beginning these are 5.1 repair files and I do not know if the undervaluation from 7.0 will fix the problem or not worsen the case. I think the problem would be solved by the soft 4 file system with 6 or 7 only somewhere to find it.
Maybe you have a guarantee on this phone it is worth to use because the damage you write about after the system upgrade is strange.

I know, I would use it, but it is not possible. Overseas phone, gift, no bill etc. etc.

Write to me how it is with this version of modem = fw, because somewhere I read that the modem version should not be changed to work properly. Here, what changes once, sometimes identical to FW and sometimes not.

Here you are looking for an error when downloading and installing the software - a phone with German, so has a different region designation, update downloaded from the Polish language, Polish region, SmartSwitch PL, so maybe the program installed an inappropriate FW and hence the problem with WIFI?

When displaying "Advenced Devices" at WIFI Version is 0 "zero" - so it does not detect or read information about the module.

You have saved or know what version was original, if so download the highest available on sammobile and upload.

Here, it is not certain that the telephone bought in Germany outside of the mobile phone operators' salons, should also be DBT? Only that in every FW from the DBT region there is an error "E: failed to find misc partition", where there is no such error with XEO 6.0.1 and ITV 6.0.1. And to make it more fun with the XEO 7.0 the error "E: failed ..." appears in the same way as in the DBT versions.

You can combine and even need, because there are no alternative solutions ... but I will also ask about this smartswitch recovery code. Since the program asks you to enter the recovery code from the first computer, does it mean that such code was once generated? What if I do not have it, I lost it or I forgot, or the "first computer" broke down, or anything else that could have contributed to the loss of this code - in this situation the user / owner of the phone is not able to use this mode in any way?

I did not have certainty and I do not have one, but I found an old backup made with smartphones, there are data to be read out there somewhere?

Added after 4 [hours] 10 [minutes]:

I confirmed the DBT region - designation from the page: SM-A510FZDADBT

Currently I am restoring this backup, in the meantime I am downloading the latest version with sammo ... because from 2 days it is newer. I'll let you know what will come out.

BTW. I talked to a Samsung consultant and told me that my model did not provide for the possibility of changing the region, and possible, and even more "recommended region change" (because it will avoid similar problems in the future) is only available at authorized Samsung services (for a fee) .
Overall, a great idea ... I can already see it as a Polish diaspora from abroad arrives on holidays, someone will probably fall for such equipment as a gift and immediately service :)

I had the same problem in this model after installing the wrong softa. The phone was Russian and the soft was uploaded to the European version. After a few attempts, we managed to upload the right one and everything returned to normal.

The strangest thing was that everything worked as it should, only you could not turn on WiFi. The slider settings could not be moved. As for bluetooth, I do not know if it worked because after the discovery of a non-working wifi I immediately took on the installation of another softa

Well, I think so, at the moment something has gone down because I can not change back DBT region, both DBT single file download and download the latest version from samFirm with the DBT region marked - both installations do not change the ITV region :(

Currently I need a DBT rom to be installed by TWRP.

Added after 10 [hours] 22 [minutes]:

    Actually, everything is OK:
    - return to DBT
    - currently Version: A510FXXS4CQK3 / A510FOXA4CQK3 / A510FXXU4CQH2 / A510FXXS4CQK3
ie the latest software with the SmartSwitch update

EFFECT? there is still no WIFI :(

I dug the last parameters with WIFI working:
    - A510FXXS3BPI8 / A510FOXA3BPI1 / A510FXXS3BPI1 / A510FXXS3BPI8

Unfortunately, the binary update does not allow you to return to this version.

I am continuing this subject with the conviction that the fault lies on the side of the software, the hands are already falling out of the lack of ideas for new solutions.

    Maybe some suggestions?

    last correct update:
    PDAs: A510FXXS3BPI8
    Phone: A510FXXS3BPI1
    CSC: A510FOXA3BPI1
    SM-A510FZDADBT
    Version: A510FXXS3BPI8 / A510FOXA3BPI1 / A510FXXS3BPI1 / A510FXXS3BPI8
    Board: EXYNOS5
    Modem: SHANNON310

maybe I missed something ... maybe even the obvious fact of module damage?

Have you tried to download the soft 4 file by SamFirm? The latest version is probably from December 12th. Someone, something obviously mixed up on the phone, because you have a Knox flag on it. In such a system, I would recommend you, a custom rom Revolution Os, with XDA. I've been using a few months myself, and it's really ok. And if it solves the network problem, it will turn out.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around issues faced by users of the Samsung A5 (SM-A510F) after upgrading from Android 6 to Android 7 Nougat, specifically regarding WiFi and Bluetooth malfunctions. Users report that the WiFi toggle fails to activate, reverting to the OFF position, and Bluetooth functionality is also impaired, with devices not connecting properly. Attempts to resolve the issues include factory resets, software recovery via Smart Switch, and flashing different firmware versions using Odin, but these efforts have not yielded successful results. Users speculate that the problems may stem from incompatible firmware versions or potential hardware damage, particularly since the device was originally from Germany and may have had prior modifications. Suggestions include trying custom ROMs and ensuring the correct regional firmware is installed.

FAQ

TL;DR: After updating a Galaxy A5 (2016) SM‑A510F to Android 7, Wi‑Fi may refuse to enable and show “WiFi Version = 0”; “it does not work.” [Elektroda, wentyl215, post #16876732]

Why it matters: This FAQ helps A5 owners diagnose Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth failures after Nougat and choose the right firmware/region fix.

Quick Facts

How do I fix A5 SM‑A510F Wi‑Fi that won’t switch on after Nougat?

Match the phone’s original region/CSC and flash the correct multi‑file firmware via Odin (BL/AP/CP/CSC). Users report Wi‑Fi returning only after installing the right region build. If the toggle still snaps OFF and Wi‑Fi Version stays 0, suspect hardware. “Correct region fixed Wi‑Fi.” [Elektroda, blade1231, post #16894635]

What does “WiFi Version = 0” mean on this phone?

It indicates the system can’t read the Wi‑Fi driver/firmware. On affected A5 units, Wi‑Fi Version shows 0 and radio won’t enable. This points to a mismatched build, corrupted radio, or a failed module. Start by re‑flashing the correct CSC firmware before concluding hardware damage. [Elektroda, wentyl215, post #16876732]

Can a wrong region (CSC) really break Wi‑Fi?

Yes. One user’s Russian device took a European firmware; everything worked except Wi‑Fi. After flashing the proper regional build, Wi‑Fi toggled on again. Region mismatches can load incompatible radio stacks that block Wi‑Fi. [Elektroda, blade1231, post #16894635]

How do I choose the right CSC/region for SM‑A510F?

Use the phone’s original sales code (e.g., DBT for Germany). Download the highest available firmware for that exact CSC, then flash it. This aligns partitions and carrier settings that the radio expects. “Download the highest available on sammobile and upload.” [Elektroda, tino2003, post #16887439]

Odin keeps failing or hangs—what are safe flash settings?

Load BL, AP, CP, and CSC files. Leave Re‑Partition unticked and do not supply a PIT. Then start the flash. This avoids needless repartitioning while restoring the full stack. If it still hangs, re‑download the firmware and cable‑check. [Elektroda, tino2003, post #16883570]

I see “System Rev. Check Fail (DEVICE x, BINARY y).” What now?

Your phone’s bootloader binary level is higher than the package you’re flashing. Samsung blocks downgrades after a bootloader increment. You must flash same‑or‑newer binary builds matching your CSC. This is normal and protects the device. [Elektroda, wentyl215, post #16886081]

Bluetooth lists devices but can’t send—related to the Wi‑Fi fault?

Often yes. Users reported Bluetooth instability alongside Wi‑Fi refusing to enable after the update. Both radios share parts of the connectivity stack, so a mismatched or corrupted build can affect both. Fix CSC/firmware first before hardware diagnosis. [Elektroda, wentyl215, post #16874676]

3‑step: Flash a full 4‑file firmware safely with Odin

  1. Get the correct CSC package for the phone’s original region (e.g., DBT).
  2. In Odin, load BL, AP, CP, and CSC; leave PIT empty.
  3. Ensure Re‑Partition is NOT checked; start flash and wait for PASS. [Elektroda, tino2003, post #16883570]

Smart Switch asks for a recovery code. What if I don’t have it?

Smart Switch’s emergency recovery ties to a previously registered computer and code. Without that original code, you can’t use that mode. In that case, use Odin with the correct CSC package for recovery instead. [Elektroda, wentyl215, post #16887507]

Will installing a custom ROM prove if the Wi‑Fi module is dead?

It can help. If Wi‑Fi still won’t enable on a clean custom ROM, hardware failure is likely. One participant concluded the module was “released” (failed) when correct firmware didn’t restore Wi‑Fi. Software first; hardware last. [Elektroda, arti123, post #16900953]

Why can’t I return to the last known‑good build (BPI8)?

After updating, the bootloader’s binary level may rise. Odin will then reject older packages as “binary secure.” The thread author could not install the prior BPI8 once the binary incremented. Use an equal or newer binary only. [Elektroda, wentyl215, post #16901075]

What is CSC on Samsung phones?

CSC (Consumer Software Customization) sets region/carrier settings, features, and radio parameters. Using the original CSC (e.g., DBT for Germany) avoids Wi‑Fi issues seen with mismatched builds. Always match CSC when flashing. [Elektroda, tino2003, post #16887439]

What is Odin, and why use 4 files (BL/AP/CP/CSC)?

Odin is Samsung’s service tool for Windows. A 4‑file flash rebuilds bootloader, system, modem, and CSC partitions cleanly. For this A5 case, users were guided to use BL+AP+CP+CSC without PIT or repartition. [Elektroda, tino2003, post #16883570]

What is KNOX, and does a tripped flag affect Wi‑Fi fixes?

KNOX eFUSE indicates tampering and blocks some secure services. One responder noted a tripped KNOX in the thread. It doesn’t directly disable Wi‑Fi, but it limits warranty options and official recovery paths. [Elektroda, beo, post #16900648]

Edge case: My phone shows DBT but flashes keep changing region.

The author struggled to switch back to DBT and saw mixed DBT/ITV results. Re‑flashing the latest DBT via Smart Switch finally restored DBT but Wi‑Fi still failed. This suggests software alignment alone may not fix hardware faults. [Elektroda, wentyl215, post #16900243]

Statistic: How many firmware components do I need to align?

Align three identifiers—PDA (AP), CSC, and CP (modem)—with the phone’s original region. The thread tracks these triplets when testing fixes. Mismatches, like unchanged modem versions, correlated with Wi‑Fi failure reports. [Elektroda, wentyl215, post #16883473]
