    Hi!

One year after buying the computer, I decided it was high time to buy an SSD drive. Here, however, I have a dilemma which disk to choose.
I do not know if the components can interfere with the operation of the SSD drive if I have a SATAIII connector on the motherboard, but to be sure it will write it, maybe someone with, for example, such a board had a problem with the operation of one of the disks I mentioned.

    MB: MSI H110M PRO-VD
    RAM: 2x4GB 2133Mhz Patriot Viper DDR4
    GPU: GTX 1050Ti MSI Gaming X 4GB GDDR5
    CPU: i3 6100 3.7Ghz

    The drives I consider initially:
    ssd-goodram-cx300-120gb-sata3
    disk-ssd-goodram-iridium-gen2-120gb-sata3
    adata-su800-128gb-sata3
    ssd-transcend-ssd370-128gb-sata3

Which one will be the best / most efficient disk and which has the lowest failure rate, I am green on this topic.
I am also open to your suggestions.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Up to PLN 250, do you think that these 2 lasts in the 120GB versions will be better than, for example, GOODRAM IRDM?

SP920 is OK, good Marvell controller and good MLC memory. The SU800 as a last resort, a TLC memory drive, is quite bearable. GoodRAM IRDM2, despite the seemingly uninteresting controller, is doing quite well (I did speed tests, but the 240GB model, in the second post, a colleague from Forum also threw the measurement of the 120, link below).

When it comes to cheap drives, you can think of the Crucial BX300 (MLC), I will also provide a link to the test in a moment. If you want cheap and a lot, you can take a look at the Micron M1100 disk, it is a disk based on the same controller as the Crucial MX300 and equipped with 3D TLC memory. I will probably buy this disc next week and I will also check how it is doing, but I do not have any measurements yet.

    Benchmark GoodRAM IRDM 240GB: https://www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/topic3416340.html

The price of the Crucial M1100 is PLN 279: https://www.x-kom.pl/p/382690-dysk-ssd-micron-256gb-25-ssd-m1100-3d-nand-oem.html

I suggest you add up to 240GB Iridium Pro (1st gen - the better one) so that you can fit some FPS games

I thought about it, but the funds do not allow for games and general data storage, WD EZEX 1TB will be used.
Thanks for all the answers and suggestions!

I am sticking to the topic and I am looking for such a disk up to 128GB
from the posts above it appears that the best would be the DATA Premier Pro SP920 but the price kills.
Ultimate SU800 is only 300MB / s on record, but it's a more attractive price.
GoodRam IRDM GEN2 120GB a little over PLN 100 and interesting data:
    Read speed [MB / s]
    550
    Write speed [MB / s]
    530.

Crucialu BX300 in X-kom PLN 109 attractive price, but some exotic name scares me away.

Maybe someone will comment on the cx300 from goodram?

    Crucial MX500 250GB - PLN 200

Seriously, buying a smaller one is not profitable.

In half a year it will be worth 50% of its price, I have already invested the Samsung 860 EVO SSD in 500GB, I bought it for an external drive in the USB 3.0 pocket for PLN 40. I have a 500GB Plextor M8PeGN (M.2 NVMe) for the system. Also at the moment, HDDs and I have a lot of them are only connected when I need something from the "archive".

I bought my first 128GB SSD drive in early 3013 for PLN 449 and so far I do not regret any zloty.

If it is to be the main system disk, buy a larger one, because 128GB is almost nothing, think if you want to download a movie in 4K one day, you will need about 30-40 GB for one.

I have been using one in a stationary per system and haven't noticed any problems with it yet.

FAQ

TL;DR: For SATA builds, 250GB SSDs run ~PLN 200, and “buying a smaller one is not profitable.” Choose 250GB over 120GB; pick proven models mentioned below. [Elektroda, FxJ, post #17697798]

Why it matters: This helps MSI H110M PRO-VD and similar SATA-PC owners pick a reliable, fast SSD within a tight budget.

Quick Facts

What’s the best SSD under PLN 250 for this build?

Aim for a 250GB SATA drive near PLN 200, like the Crucial MX500. This capacity gives headroom for Windows, apps, and updates. As one expert put it, “buying a smaller one is not profitable.” Prioritise capacity first; then pick a reputable model. [Elektroda, FxJ, post #17697798]

Is 128GB enough for Windows and apps?

It can work, but space disappears quickly. “128GB is almost nothing.” Large files make it worse; a 4K movie can take 30–40GB. Go 250GB if you can swing it. That choice reduces juggling and keeps performance steadier under load. [Elektroda, FxJ, post #17697867]

SP920 vs SU800 vs GoodRAM IRDM — which should I pick?

Pick ADATA SP920 if available; “SP920 is OK, good Marvell controller and good MLC memory.” Choose SU800 only as a last resort; it uses TLC but remains bearable. GoodRAM IRDM2 performs well, with forum benchmarks for 120GB and 240GB confirming it. [Elektroda, dt1, post #17075700]

Is GoodRAM IRDM Gen2 120GB a safe choice versus older IRDM?

Yes. IRDM2 performs well despite its modest controller. The post includes speed tests for 240GB and references a 120GB result. If your budget is strict, the 120GB IRDM2 is a defensible pick for OS and a few apps. [Elektroda, dt1, post #17075700]

Is Crucial BX300 120GB a good buy despite the name?

Yes. The BX300 uses MLC NAND and appears in the thread as a solid budget option. A benchmark link for the 120GB capacity was shared. If you must stay at 120GB, it’s among the safer bets from the listed choices. [Elektroda, dt1, post #17075700]

Are NVMe models like Samsung 960 EVO or Plextor M8PeG worth it here?

Only if your budget is high. They appeared in a “large budget” recommendation list, alongside other premium options. With a PLN 250 cap, stick to SATA models suggested in the thread. You’ll still get a huge boost over HDD. [Elektroda, Pedros050, post #17075490]

What speeds should I expect from GoodRAM IRDM Gen2 120GB?

The quoted figures are 550 MB/s read and 530 MB/s write. Those numbers reflect the typical spec for this model and capacity. Real-world results depend on workload and remaining free space. Keep 10–20% free for best consistency. [Elektroda, kubaopp, post #17697713]

Is ADATA SU800’s ~300 MB/s write a dealbreaker?

Not if the price is attractive to you. The user highlighted write around 300 MB/s for SU800. For basic system use and general apps, it remains viable. Prioritise capacity if you multitask or handle large files. [Elektroda, kubaopp, post #17697713]

Should I pair an SSD with a 1TB HDD for games and data?

Yes. The OP planned exactly this: SSD for the system and WD EZEX 1TB for storage and games. This hybrid approach balances speed with capacity. It keeps your budget in check without sacrificing responsiveness. [Elektroda, swistak1111, post #17075973]

Why choose GoodRAM Iridium Pro 240GB, and which generation is better?

Pick it if you want room for a few games. “1st gen — the better one,” so check the generation when buying. That nuance helps you avoid a less capable revision. It’s a smart stretch if funds allow. [Elektroda, FxJ, post #17075704]

Is Silicon Power A55 256GB okay as a system drive?

A forum member runs it as a desktop system disk and reports no issues. For budget builds, that user feedback is reassuring. It delivers the everyday speed jump you expect over HDDs. [Elektroda, Pedros050, post #17698008]

Is Micron M1100 256GB worth considering at around PLN 279?

Yes, if you want capacity on the cheap. The post lists PLN 279 for 256GB and notes it shares a controller lineage with Crucial MX300 and uses 3D TLC. A review link was also shared for deeper checks. [Elektroda, dt1, post #17075700]

Quick 3‑step: How do I pick the right SSD for this setup?

  1. Target 250GB capacity for the best value.
  2. Budget about PLN 200 for that tier.
  3. Choose a known model (e.g., Crucial MX500 250GB) and avoid 120GB if possible. [Elektroda, FxJ, post #17697798]
