Question

I noticed one of my videos on YouTube from 2014 is no sound . When I uploaded it, the sound worked flawlessly. I turned on another YouTube video - the sound works. I turned on Winamp - the sound works. I sent a link to a friend to check - he says that he also has no sound, and YouTube sometimes...

As I wrote, there is a problem on the computer and browser side. And not missing codecs. Try Firefox again, and wonder if you have Opere ?! and you don't have Firefox. Look for the problem in your browser settings, not your computer.

You do not need to install any codecs. Videos on YT if accepted and can be exported to the server, all responsibility for playback is taken by the player be it Flash or HTML server. It is different if the movie has been downloaded to a computer and does not work on it. My friend @szachinista download your movie on HDD (from the browser position and not the admin panel) and try to play it (just as you downloaded it) using the basic windows media player. And check it out. Another thing, you usually have 3 browsers to choose from, even 4, IE, Edge, Chrome and Firefox. Have you checked if there is no sound in all of them? If not, start with it. And yes? It's not how I use it, but how it is delivered to me. It is me who installs the player on my website so that the client can watch the movie, I am the SUPPLIER who decides whether it will be Flash or HTML and generally YT has not used Flash for 2 years. Therefore, a person watching a movie does not have to install anything. Otherwise the movie would be downloaded as a file.

@anmedia 1. I downloaded this youtube.omat video to my computer in * .mp4 format and there is sound . 2. The sound does not work in Chrome 66 and Opera 52. In incognito mode on Chrome also does not work. In IE 11 the sound is . @sanfran I used your link. I don't know how it happened, but when I checked it was on my computer Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX and 29 PPAPI . I uninstalled 10. I reinstalled 29. I cleared cookies and cache + application data. It didn't help on Chrome. I scanned the computer for viruses. Purely. AdBlock Plus is disabled for YouTube. I didn't find the answer to my problem in Chrome Help Any ideas yet?

@anmedia I checked FF 59 64-bit and the voice works there. I have missed the Chrome settings, but I have not found any place that could cause sound or YT support issues. I will use Firefox in that case and I think that there is no more to delve into the topic. Thanks for help gentlemen !!

I think that since you have this problem and you will find a solution it would be worth to describe it here. As far as I remember there were several topics with the same problem. Therefore, if you have time, please go to the settings of browsers that did not play sound and check if the settings are similar to those in the photo below. This is an image scan from firefox, but the rest of the browsers like Chrome have similar mechanisms. So maybe during the security settings some options have just been turned off

For me on FF it looks like this:

Unfortunately, Chrome did not find anything related to:
applications, programs, avi or mp4

After entering "files" I found the cookie settings, but everything is fine.
I deleted the cookies and cache again.
I agreed to the YouTube privacy policy.
I logged in to youtube.
Nothing helped.

Youtube notifications are blocked.

In Advanced Settings -> Content Settings -> Sound everything was ok.
Adding youtube to the allowed ones did not help:

I have reset all Chrome settings.
It did nothing.

Now I see that subsequent videos don't work - those that I've visited before !
When I go to the main and switch on a random video, the sound is there.

Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to preview and edit plugins in Chrome, because from 2017 (Chrome 57; my version is Chrome 66) this option is not available.

In step two, there is a hint to disable Flash. Did not help.
I will try to uninstall and install Chrome, but I can't believe it will help.

Pay attention to the window you have placed (firefox) and you see that you do not have the extension to audio video files and the browser plays. However, please note that you have active DRM look for it in Chrome.

What's one got to do with another. Flash to Flash a player HTML to player HTML. Their operation is different and disabling Flash will do nothing, this completely different YT "player" uses only HTML5 and if it does not play Chrome, this is its internal problem.
I had one more idea. Start Chrome and go to YT. Start the video and now check the mixer settings if Chrome is not set to minimum in this case. Then plug in the headphones and check if there is any sound either.

I don't know how flash is to HTML. I tried everything I could think of.

I turned on YT and previewed the sound mixer in the lower right corner.

All half icons, including the one from Chrome, work fine. You can even see the green bar rising and falling, but there is no sound in the loudspeakers or in the headphones connected afterwards (I changed it to "Device" for headphones).

However, the whole thing is annoying.

When using Twitter, where the video contains a video, I can't hear audio in Chrome.
On the rmf24 website, however, one youtube video played back to me, and the other one did not!

In that case, I don't know what the criterion is when the movie will work and when it won't.
