    Hello

I need to change from the "communion" samsung ES55 camera to some nice compact.

    Mainly for nature photography.

I am interested in exchangeable optics and good image quality. In addition, I do retouching myself.

I know it's an expensive hobby, so I have a problem setting a price currant.

Do you have suggestions as to what will be the first camera?

Like interchangeable optics, it is probably not only a "mirrorless" compact ...

Hello, without this bar I don't know what I can advise you.
    Maybe Sony A7rII + Sony 70-200 f / 4?

Yesterday I had the opportunity to play with it but here a colleague will give the highest price shelf.

Too much for the first camera. I would prefer not to exceed 1500 thousand.

Define your budget first. It is not known if you are looking for something in the 500 PLN or 15,000 PLN range
In addition, photos with cheaper equipment often look better than more expensive ones - it all depends on the viewfinder.

I assure you that this is not the highest price shelf, but PLN 1500 (probably not 1500 thousand?) Is definitely not enough for a mirror with sensible lenses, maybe focus on currently cheap SLRs because the lenses used there are a fraction of the price of what is in the mirror.

If a colleague forgives himself interchangeable optics then at this price you can buy decent compacts. For example, you might be interested in the Panasonic Lumix line.
Advantages: good optics, allowing for good zooms (up to 30 optical), stabilizer and macro photography.
When buying a camera with interchangeable lenses, you need to exceed your budget to buy a body with good parameters. Where are the funds for optics? For a good zoom, for a lens with good light, for macro shooting rings?

But even a starter kit with a lens usually something like 16-50mm or 18-55mm will give better quality (comparable with most aps-c reflex cameras) than what is built into compacts where at such a price there is usually a microscopic matrix that completely spoils the fun.

A colleague is wrong here. The starter kit has a lens that just sit and cry. The zoom range x3 and it's light! And what does a colleague call decent value? Mirror lenses from old PRL are technical wonders!
And where is the 30x zoom with the stabilizer to "hunt" interesting specimens from a distance? And where is the macro option for close-ups?

Microscopic matrices are in mobile phones even in flagship ones - there are sensors with a diagonal of about 5mm. In compacts it is about 11mm. In asp-c it's 27mm. 11mm is quite a reasonable compromise for little money.
And besides, the larger the matrix, the more expensive the lenses.

But why do he need a 30x zoom that will give you spots without details because the optics are already half the resolution?
Everything that is smaller than m4 / 3 is microscopic and in 2018 not worth buying as cheap are currently just m4 / 3 and aps-c, on which dark kits give a much better picture than pseudo bright in superzooms compacts.

Up to 1500? Lumix gx80 but you have to add, look with a 25mm f 1.7 lens for nature and nice bokeh comes out

At this price it's hard to get anything decent, unless it can be used. Then look at the committees, sometimes you can find really decent equipment for little money and in good condition. On the internet, you have a commission on e-oko.pl, cameras almost like new ones.

I would rather look at First Communion and holiday promotions than at second-hand shops, because there are often prices as low as new ones.
I would be looking for some used Olympus EPL 7/8 if it's cool equipment or maybe somehow I could buy a Sony A6000.

I recommend Lumix G series, like DMC-G5 even. And if you want a small pocket, it is also a mirrorless Lumix DMC-GF7. In both cases, interchangeable optics, lenses with an adapter of PLN 100, a whole range of lenses of all kinds, unless they have to be Panaconic, then a kit plus something longer. But think about what you care about the most and adjust the equipment to your needs, and you will not buy something just in case, just to have it. Because you will never get it out of the case. I know people who have big SLRs and lenses, 20,000 PLN, and the pictures are taken in small mirrorless cameras. I also have a reflex camera and I almost always use GF7 with 12-32 glass and a second 35-100 glass. And for the G5 there was kit 14-42, there were also shop sets with two glasses, 14-42 plus 45-150. But what is important, whenever you choose any company used, always check the counter of photos taken. Not the meter in the camera current, under the picture, but this one cannot be deleted in the service menu, etc. Although there are also methods of resetting, unfortunately, but at least there is hope. And the condition of the camera will be judged by its appearance, as it will have 80,000 taken, up to 15 pictures on the counter, you will know by the worn, slid housing, by this and by that. It's like a car, on a 12,000 km counter because he only went to church once a month, because he has little faith, and the steering wheel, pedals worn off, the gear knob is polished. That's why they change these parts to new or slightly used ones to cheat. With cameras similarly.

FAQ

TL;DR: For nature shoppers targeting PLN 1,500, "Define your budget first," and note the 500–15,000 PLN range; this FAQ compiles thread‑backed picks and buying tips. [Elektroda, sanfran, post #17206824]

Why it matters: It helps beginners choose realistic, nature‑friendly gear under PLN 1,500 and avoid costly missteps.

Quick Facts

What’s the best mirrorless camera under PLN 1,500 for nature?

Hunt used mirrorless deals. Look for Olympus E‑PL7/E‑PL8 or a promo‑priced Sony A6000. These bodies are compact and capable for outdoor shooting. Watch First Communion and holiday promotions to stretch your budget. [Elektroda, marcode, post #17214873]

Is PLN 1,500 enough for a mirrorless plus a good lens?

Usually no. PLN 1,500 rarely covers a mirrorless body and a sensible lens. Consider entry‑level DSLRs where used lenses cost much less. That path can deliver better value at this price. [Elektroda, marcode, post #17206850]

Should I pick a superzoom compact instead for wildlife?

Yes, if interchangeable lenses aren’t essential. Panasonic Lumix superzooms offer up to 30x optical zoom, stabilization, and macro. That reach helps when subjects stay far away. It fits the budget better than a mirrorless kit. [Elektroda, sanfran, post #17207641]

Do kit lenses like 16–50 or 18–55 give decent image quality?

Yes. Typical 16–50/18–55 kits on MFT or APS‑C produce better detail than small‑sensor compacts. They make a sensible starting point for beginners. Upgrade glass later as needs grow. [Elektroda, marcode, post #17207726]

Why avoid chasing 30x zoom on cheap compacts?

Extreme zooms often soften fine detail. As one expert said, "Everything that is smaller than m4/3 is microscopic." MFT or APS‑C systems keep better sharpness for nature subjects. Prioritize sensor size and optics over raw zoom. [Elektroda, marcode, post #17207813]

Do larger sensors really matter for nature photography?

Yes. Typical diagonals: phones ~5 mm, compacts ~11 mm, APS‑C ~27 mm. Larger sensors improve quality, dynamic range, and low‑light performance. However, lenses for larger sensors tend to cost more. [Elektroda, sanfran, post #17207786]

Is the Lumix GX80 a smart buy near PLN 1,500?

It’s a strong choice, but expect to go over PLN 1,500. Pair it with a 25mm f/1.7 for subject isolation and pleasing bokeh. The combo works well for nature details and portraits. [Elektroda, tomole3839, post #17210451]

Are Lumix G5 or GF7 good lightweight options with interchangeable lenses?

Yes. Lumix G5 and pocketable GF7 both support interchangeable optics. Affordable adapters (~PLN 100) unlock many lenses. Kits like 14–42 and 45–150 cover wide to telephoto needs. [Elektroda, suchejro, post #17244959]

Is the Fuji X100 worth considering around PLN 1,500?

Yes. Users recommend the Fuji X100 at this price, typically as a used purchase. It’s a popular pick if you don’t need interchangeable lenses. [Elektroda, SiemankoOo, post #17232527]

Is buying from a commission/used shop a good idea?

Yes. At this price, used gear can offer strong value. Check reputable commission stores; some stock near‑new cameras. You can find solid picks within budget. [Elektroda, JaroK87, post #17214823]

Are seasonal promotions better than second‑hand shops?

Often yes. Watch First Communion and holiday promos. Some second‑hand shops price gear close to new. Promos can beat used prices and include warranty. [Elektroda, marcode, post #17214873]

How do I check a used mirrorless before buying?

Follow this:
  1. “Always check the counter of photos taken.” Verify via service menu if possible.
  2. Inspect body wear: grips, buttons, bayonet, and screen for heavy use.
  3. Test lenses and IBIS/AF in daylight. Note: some shutter counters can be reset, so trust physical condition. [Elektroda, suchejro, post #17244959]

Are DSLRs a better value at PLN 1,500?

Yes, for total system cost. Entry DSLRs with used lenses can cost less than mirrorless equivalents. You’ll stretch your budget and still get capable results for nature. [Elektroda, marcode, post #17206850]
