Hello. I have an RTV-SAT socket:
Terrestrial TV Connection: RTV-SAT Socket, Cable, Antenna & Digital-to-Analog Conversion Issues
and only one cable from the roof to the house, which used to connect the converter to the SAT socket, and from there to the NC + decoder. I no longer have a contract with NC + and I wanted to switch the signal from the terrestrial TV antenna (I also have it on the roof). I have the cable on the roof connected to the terrestrial TV antenna (channel range up to 65), and in the socket at home I still have it connected to the digital connector. I ran the signal from this connector via the cable to the analog TV input on the TV. But I cannot detect any terrestrial TV channels. Question - do I have to connect the cable from the roof to the TV input of the socket in the house and then to the TV? It's a bit of a pain in the process, so I'd like some advice.

Provide full details of the TV - and check if it has a DVB-T tuner at all :?:
You will not receive digital terrestrial TV signals on an analog TV

Leave the cable on the roof and connect it to the TV input socket in the house. Connect to the TV with another cable. What antenna on the roof and where to live?

It is difficult to say what the antenna is 10 years old, such a rectangular mesh with two protruding rods on which there are several aluminum tubes horizontally. The location of Marki, from the roof I can see the palace of culture and direct the antenna there. On the map https://www.dvbtmap.eu/mapmux.html?pl-mux it appears that I have Warsaw-kawęczyn closer, maybe it is better to direct it there ...

Then connect this antenna to the antenna socket and try to search (automatic tuning) for earth stations.

Ok, then I have to plug the cable in the socket from the SAT socket to the TV and try to search, because so far it has not searched for anything

However, I suggest using the "tutorial" of the TV to tune terrestrial TV channels and rather automatic tuning - according to the manual

There is no sillier tuning than automatic. Search by channel for your area.
You connect the TV output to the TV in the socket.
As the antenna is active, the power supply for the amplifier in the mesh antenna is still needed.

improper channel tuning - analog instead of digital for terrestrial television

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around connecting a terrestrial TV antenna to an RTV-SAT socket for receiving digital terrestrial TV signals. The user initially had a setup with a satellite decoder but now wants to switch to terrestrial TV. Key advice includes ensuring the TV has a DVB-T2 tuner, connecting the roof antenna directly to the TV input socket in the house, and performing an automatic channel search. It is emphasized that the antenna must be properly directed towards the nearest transmission tower for optimal signal reception. Users also noted the importance of using the correct tuning method, as improper tuning can lead to failure in detecting channels.

FAQ

TL;DR: Seeing 0 channels? You’re likely scanning analog; switch to DVB‑T/T2 and use the TV port—“You will not receive digital terrestrial TV signals on an analog TV.” [Elektroda, Prot, post #17274103]

Why it matters: For viewers switching from NC+ satellite to DVB‑T/T2 via an RTV‑SAT outlet, this fixes “no channels” fast.

Quick Facts

  • Use the wall plate’s TV input/output for DVB‑T/T2; don’t feed or take terrestrial signals via the SAT leg. [Elektroda, olador, post #17274143]
  • Active “mesh” antennas need power on the coax; without it, tuning returns no channels or unstable reception. [Elektroda, LeDy, post #17274744]
  • Manual by‑channel tuning avoids misses; get exact channel numbers and transmitter azimuths from EmiMaps. ["Emitel Coverage Map"]
  • DVB‑T/T2 uses 8 MHz UHF channels; set bandwidth accordingly during manual scans. ["DVB‑T2"]
  • Your TV must include a DVB‑T/T2 tuner or use an external DVB‑T decoder via HDMI. [Elektroda, Prot, post #17274103]

How do I connect a terrestrial antenna through an RTV‑SAT wall plate?

On the roof, connect the antenna coax to the wall plate’s TV input, not SAT. Inside, patch the wall plate’s TV output to your TV’s antenna/RF input. Keep all interconnects as 75Ω coax. Do not route terrestrial signals through the SAT leg. [Elektroda, olador, post #17274143]

Why does my TV find zero channels after switching from satellite (NC+)?

Zero channels usually means you scanned in analog mode or used the wrong socket. Switch the tuner to Digital (DVB‑T/T2). Use the TV antenna/RF input, not analog AV. “You will not receive digital terrestrial TV signals on an analog TV.” [Elektroda, Prot, post #17274103]

Which socket on the wall plate should the roof cable use?

Use the TV‑marked port. Move the roof cable from SAT to the TV input on the plate. Then connect the TV output to your television’s RF input. This restores the terrestrial path. [Elektroda, olador, post #17274143]

Should I use auto‑tuning or manual channel search?

Prefer manual by‑channel search to capture all multiplexes. Find exact channel numbers first, then scan them. How‑to:
  1. Set Tuner to Antenna and Digital.
  2. Select Manual tuning by channel/frequency.
  3. Enter each listed channel and store results. Auto‑tune can miss multiplexes. [Elektroda, LeDy, post #17274744]

How do I power an active "mesh" antenna preamp?

Active mesh antennas include a mast preamp. It needs power injected on the coax. Enable Antenna Power in your TV, or use an external injector. Without power, channels will not tune or remain stable. [Elektroda, LeDy, post #17274744]

I live in Marki/Warsaw—should I point to PKiN or Kawęczyn?

Use EmiMaps to compare PKiN and Kawęczyn for Marki. It shows channel numbers, directions, and field strength. Point the antenna toward the stronger, less obstructed site. Then run a manual scan by those channels. ["Emitel Coverage Map"]

Can the SAT port be used for DVB‑T/T2?

No. The SAT outlet is for satellite IF and LNB feed. It is not intended for UHF terrestrial signals. Use the wall plate’s TV outlet for DVB‑T/T2. [Elektroda, olador, post #17274143]

Do I need a DVB‑T/T2 set‑top box if my TV is older?

If your TV lacks a DVB‑T/T2 tuner, add a DVB‑T set‑top box. Connect it by HDMI. If your TV has a DVB‑T/T2 tuner, no external box is needed. Scan in Digital mode only. [Elektroda, Prot, post #17274103]

What channel bandwidth and mode should I pick in manual scan?

Select Digital mode with 8 MHz channel bandwidth. DVB‑T2 in UHF uses 8 MHz carriers per multiplex. Enter the correct channel or frequency during manual scan. Save services after each lock. ["DVB‑T2"]

How do I repurpose my single SAT cable for terrestrial TV?

Disconnect the cable from the satellite LNB. Connect that same cable to your terrestrial antenna. Terminate the indoor end on the wall plate’s TV input. Patch from the plate’s TV output to the TV. [Elektroda, olador, post #17274143]

Auto‑scan found only some multiplexes—what next?

Verify the antenna points at the intended transmitter. Check preamp power if using an active antenna. Manual‑scan the missing multiplex channels by their numbers. Use EmiMaps to get the exact list. [Elektroda, olador, post #17274213]

Can I receive DVB‑T/T2 via the TV’s analog AV input?

No. Analog AV inputs bypass the TV’s digital tuner. Use the RF antenna input and scan digital terrestrial channels. The issue resolved after switching to digital tuning in the thread. [Elektroda, robboh, post #17277291]

How do I auto‑tune my Sony 55W955B for terrestrial TV?

Open the TV’s Channel Setup. Choose Antenna, then Digital, and run Auto Tuning. Follow the on‑screen tutorial. Save found services and organize the list. [Elektroda, Prot, post #17274373]
