The smart Saphi system in this Philips 67 is a big risk. Written by Philips, and Philips has been strongly promoting AndroidTV for 3 years.
Support for Saphi will be marginal and always second in line.

Samsung UE43NU7092 is a good lead. This series is quite successful and hard to find a good competitor in this price range.

Regarding point 13 - the fact that TV supports CI cards does not mean that it will work well with a particular card - you have to check it yourself before buying.

but not looking at the system but the picture itself, which one will be better?
How can I check before buying if it will work with my tv supplier? should I take the card to the store and check it out somehow?

In my opinion the picture is better on NU70

Some tv service providers provide a list of TVs with which their card works properly and without any comments.

I would also prefer Samsung on one side but Philips tempts me with ambilight :)

For the time being, Ambilight is available only at Philips, so when it is key, you have no choice :)

The key is not but tempts :) I just don't know if this Philips is a decent model :)
They wrote back from the cable network that he would work.

Still the basic question is whether tv 4k for cable will be worse than full hd?
Because so far it will be mainly cable TV and terrestrial, how do these 4k scale the image? the same applies to ordinary ps4 if there will be a not sharp image like ps4 only 1080p

For 3 years, 4K TVs have scaled the FHD image to 4k without any problems.
The problem is with lower resolutions - here the algorithm of miracles will not do and it starts to look boring.

I bought a Philips 43pus6703 and it doesn't go crazy, I'm not happy yet, the temptations have tempted me :(

Such a classic came out. You were tempted by the goodies and forgot that the main function of the TV is to display the image ;)

I bought stationary, but already dedicated, Media Markt, fortunately, does not make refund problems. Only positively in this tv - liquids surprised me, they work well. Their new system is a terrible drama, slow and in addition to enter the image settings you have to click a little bit, and I thought that my tizen is slow but he is using a torpedo with saphi. Image settings also leave a little to be desired, the only thing that is cool is ambilight.

It may still be Philips, just a different model. Maybe 7303?

For now, I cured my TV in the bedroom, as if I was just taking some Samsung, but Tizen is very cool.

FAQ

TL;DR: "You always have 30 days to return." Use that window to test 4K upscaling, picture, and Smart features at home, then decide between Philips Ambilight and Samsung’s image/UI. [Elektroda, Mariano11, post #17462792]

Why it matters: This FAQ helps bedroom viewers choosing a 43-inch TV for evening shows, gaming, and sports make a confident, test-driven decision.

Quick Facts

Which has better picture for straight-on evening viewing: Philips 43PUS6703/12 or Samsung UE43NU7092?

A forum expert preferred the Samsung NU70 series for picture quality. His verdict: the UE43NU7092 is the safer image pick at this price. If possible, compare both sets in person before deciding. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #17457881]

What Smart OS does the Philips 43PUS6703/12 use if I don’t want Android TV?

It uses Philips’ Saphi, not Android TV. The expert called Saphi a risk, with support secondary to Android-focused models. Factor potential app longevity into your decision. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #17457707]

Is Samsung’s Tizen faster than Philips Saphi in real use?

A buyer found Saphi slow and menu-deep, while his Tizen TV felt like a “torpedo.” If responsiveness matters, you may prefer Samsung’s Tizen experience. [Elektroda, Malix7, post #17462926]

Is Ambilight unique to Philips and a good reason to choose the 6703?

Yes. Ambilight is only on Philips. As one expert put it, “when it is key, you have no choice.” If the lighting effect isn’t critical, weigh picture and OS first. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #17458035]

Will a 4K TV make cable TV look worse than a Full HD set?

Full HD channels upscale cleanly to 4K on modern sets. The expert noted this has been true for about three years. Standard-definition channels remain soft due to limited detail. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #17458568]

How will a PS4 (1080p) look on these 4K TVs?

A standard PS4 outputs 1080p, which these 4K TVs upscale well. Expect clarity similar to a good Full HD screen. Sub‑1080p titles will look softer because upscaling can’t add detail. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #17458568]

How do 4K TVs handle SD channels (below 1080p)?

Upscaling can’t invent missing detail. SD channels often look flat and noisy on 4K displays. Don’t expect miracles from processing algorithms on low-bitrate sources. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #17458568]

How do I check CI+ card compatibility before buying?

Use this quick check:
  1. Find your provider’s published list of compatible TVs/CAMs.
  2. Match the exact TV model and firmware.
  3. If unclear, test in-store or ensure a return window. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #17457881]

Does CI+ on the spec sheet guarantee my provider’s card will work?

No. A CI+ slot doesn’t ensure compatibility with a specific provider’s card. Implementations differ. Always confirm with your provider before purchase. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #17457707]

Can I return a TV if I don’t like the picture or Smart OS?

One participant reported a 30‑day return window. Use it to test at home under evening lighting. Keep packaging and accessories intact to simplify returns. [Elektroda, Mariano11, post #17462792]

Is the Samsung UE43NU7092 a safe bet under about 2k?

Yes. The NU7092 was called a good lead and a successful series at this price. It’s hard to find a strong competitor in its bracket. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #17457707]

What were the viewing needs discussed in this thread?

The OP sat 2 meters away, straight-on, mainly evenings. Content: series and sports, with occasional console gaming. Target size: 40–43 inches; budget up to 2,000; no Android; CI+ required. [Elektroda, Malix7, post #17456777]

If Ambilight tempts me, what should I prioritize?

Prioritize picture quality first. As the expert warned, “the main function of the TV is to display the image.” Treat Ambilight as a bonus, not the core criterion. [Elektroda, Ludwik XVI, post #17461116]

I bought the Philips 43PUS6703/12 and I’m unhappy—what next?

A buyer returned it without hassle and later preferred Samsung’s Tizen for speed. If you’re dissatisfied, return within policy and demo alternatives side‑by‑side before deciding. [Elektroda, Malix7, post #17462926]
