    Model: K55V
    MB Ver: K55VM Rev2.0
    K55VM-SX083V

Laptop turns ON but does nothing, no image and HDD light goes off after a second, I have successfully flashed K55VM Rev2.0 dump that I found somewhere, it works, but gt-635m graphic card driver is stopped by windows, error 43. I guess that's because the dump is maybe for GT-630m. Still the graphic card can be removed and replaced...
If I try to update BIOS using ASUS official bios (https://www.asus.com/us/Laptops/K55VM/HelpDesk_BIOS/) and Ez Flash inside BIOS, it will fail at verify stage and laptop doesn't turn ON anymore after that.
Does anyone have a dump for this model with the 635m installed?

Or it can be a damaged gfx card? Windows detects and installs nvidia driver for it but can't activate it. Also HWinfo32 reports as [FAKE] tag.

    Regards

I find that none of K55VM actually works, then I tried K55VF and it works good. It seems there is no official model with 635M for VM but VF.
The strange fact is that both PC chassis and box show K55VM, the motherboard was not replaced so maybe an error at factory?
The K55VM-SX083V specs with GT-630M so very odd!

Hello, where did you get bios for K55VF? Were you successful? I have K55VM bios and can´t run gt 635m (code 43). Do you think update new bios helps?
    thanks

Hi, how did you flash? There is not visible a flash file in the bios. I downloaded winflash utility for windows from asus website but couldn´t install.
    thanks Martin

Dumps are installed with an external programmer, you need to unsolder the bios chip, put into programmer, burn firmware and resolder in place (Require tools).
If your PC boots and works then you don't need to update your bios (Issue are not bios related)

My laptop boots and everything works besides my Nvidia GT635 driver (error code 43). The motherboard is K55VJ but BIOS K55VM. That's the problem.

That happens by itself? You can always flash bios under Ez-Flash on bios (F2), just download K55vj and try flash it. But you risk your pc. If bios is invalid for the model and ez-flash accept it your pc won't boot anymore. So that kind of experiences are good solution for who have the tools to fix with a direct flash on chip, but risky when you have nothing to fix if anything goes wrong. If you don't play or use your gfx i recommend to keep like that.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the ASUS K55VM laptop, specifically the K55V model with a K55VM Rev2.0 motherboard and GT-635M graphics card. The user reports that the laptop powers on but fails to display an image, with the HDD light turning off shortly after. They successfully flashed a BIOS dump for K55VM but encountered an Error 43 with the GT-635M driver, suspecting the dump may have been for a GT-630M instead. Other participants suggest that the K55VM may not officially support the GT-635M, as they found success using a BIOS from the K55VF model. There are discussions about flashing BIOS using external programmers and the risks involved with using the Ez-Flash utility. The conversation highlights the potential for hardware issues, such as a damaged graphics card, and the importance of using the correct BIOS version for compatibility.
