Hello. I have a Galaxy S9 with a broken glass in the corner, under warranty from Play. It does not interfere with use, but I wonder if such a fast can be replaced or will someone recommend someone from the forum who deals with it? The phone is under warranty from April this year, do I lose my warranty after a possible replacement of the glass? Is such a replacement done by e.g. freezing without removing the LCD?

If it is broken, it is no longer guaranteed, the only option is to replace the entire LCD at an authorized service point, then the warranty will be maintained.

even if it's just the glass that's broken? An authorized service center will probably call half the value of the phone. What about other damage to the phone where repair is unprofitable and, for example, the entire phone is replaced by Samsung. Will they give me a new phone with a cracked display then?

At this point, other damages do not matter because on the basis of a broken LCD they may cancel the warranty and the basis will be mechanical damage.
At the moment, use the phone and do not worry about it if you cannot afford a replacement at an authorized service center.

For the whole phone? Why is this so? Will my back break as well? I believe that it is more of a cosmetic procedure, although it is logical that I will not get the broken glass replaced as part of the warranty, but the loss of the warranty on the entire phone?

It is not so much a loss of warranty as the fact that it will not repair any other defect, as long as you agree to replace the faulty set with a broken glass. Similarly with a broken flap. There will be a warranty, but you have to agree to the replacement of the flap when repairing another fault or cancel the warranty.

It is possible to replace the glass itself, there are companies on the market that deal with it, but in the case of the S9 it is around 600 PLN +, and you lose the manufacturer's warranty anyway.

Don't you have active display protection sometimes? Operators strongly promote this insurance and that the fees are reasonable, it is a profitable option with new and expensive phones.

I recently replaced the battery and USB in the S7 under warranty. Unfortunately, I also had the volume button pressed permanently, probably by some impact. I don't know, but it was there. They replaced the battery and USB under warranty, but I had to pay for the button frame or they couldn't take care of the battery. When asked if the battery and the USB port could not be replaced, I was told that they are an authorized salon and they must return the phone to me as new, so there cannot be any fault, even if I agree to it. At the beginning I thanked and stated that I would withstand the exchange of phones, but then I came to the conclusion that I would not buy a new S7 for PLN 480 (this was the cost of the frame with the replacement), so you can say that a few months before signing a new contract with the operator, and along with the purchase of a new phone, I bought a brand new SGS7 for less than PLN 500.

There is no one, but I wonder if it is possible to buy it now and will it be necessary to visit the store to confirm the condition of the display? You buy it from Play or from Samsung? I see on the Samsung website the cost of replacing the LCD (not fast, but the entire LCD) is 1050 PLN

It seems to me that you buy it when you buy the phone, then it is unlikely to be able to do it :)

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the implications of replacing the broken glass on a Galaxy S9, particularly concerning warranty issues. Users express concerns that any repair, even if limited to the glass, could void the warranty due to mechanical damage classifications. Authorized service centers typically require full LCD replacements to maintain warranty coverage. Some users suggest that while third-party glass replacement services exist, they often come at a high cost and will also void the manufacturer's warranty. Additionally, there are mentions of insurance options that could cover such damages, and the costs for official repairs are noted, with LCD replacement prices reaching up to 1050 PLN.
