Google Chromecast 3 Connectivity Issue: Can't Connect TV, Setup Error & Network Troubleshooting

Best answers

Why does Chromecast 3 finish setup but then cannot be found on the same Wi‑Fi network, and how can I fix it?

The problem is most likely the router/Wi‑Fi configuration, not the TV or Chromecast itself, especially if Chromecast works on a phone hotspot but not on the home network [#17649320] Try a full power-cycle and fresh setup: unplug Chromecast, turn off the phones you used, turn off the router for more than a minute, start the router first, then Chromecast, then the phones, and run Google Home setup again [#17725250] If your router has AP isolation, disable it, and if the option is missing or the router is buggy, update the router firmware; one user reported that after a firmware update the AP isolation option appeared and Chromecast started working immediately [#17748650] Another suggested fix is to set the Wi‑Fi channel to 2 or 3 and the bandwidth to 20 MHz in advanced WLAN settings, if your router allows it [#18578085] If the device still won’t pair after changing networks, factory-reset Chromecast by leaving power connected, unplugging HDMI, holding the button for about 20 seconds, then reconnecting and setting it up again in Google Home [#19189609]

Hello, I can not connect tv with chromecast 3, I do everything as in the manual and finally the message pops up - chromecast has been configured but you can not find it, make sure that tel and chromecast are connected to the same network. I tried on another tv and other phone but the same. I went to the router's address and the device is visible as connected, even though after disconnecting it from the network and reconnecting, only the WiFi network name is visible for a while. Chromecast displays some pictures on tv and does not react to anything

The problem is with the router, I set the hotspot on one phone. I connected a second phone and chromecast with it and it worked. Problem with my WiFi network, I talked to the internet provider and claims that the devices are from one pool and must be seen and I do not see wireless isolation on the router or something like that

I have a similar problem. I wanted to connect the chromcast to the home network. Chromecast initially gives a link message. Later, however, a message pops up that something went wrong. I have a TP LinkTD W8961ND router. Somewhere, I read that you need to turn off the AP isolation, however when I did it, the whole Wifi internet network disappeared was only on the direct connection with the cable to the router. Does anyone know what I can do with this problem. greetings

    It works !
I read the net and did it according to the instructions from this site.
    link

    Namely:
    1. I turned off, unpinned the chromcast
    2. I turned off all mobile devices in the home that I used to use for chromcast
    3. Turned off the router
    4. I left everything turned off for over a minute
    5. I turned on the router
    6. After turning on the router and waiting for a few minutes, I turned on the chromcast
    7. I turned on mobile devices.

I have re-configured the chromcast from scratch and surprisingly at the beginning nothing has changed. Again a message appeared at the very end
"chromecast has been configured but can not be found, make sure that tel and chromecast are connected to the same network." After a few minutes of thinking about what else to try, I noticed that the chromcast connected to the network and everything works. Check it out and this will work for you

Hello, with me, as I said, there was a problem with the router, I typed the router software version in Google and on the English-language forum was given a link to upgrade the router software, I found even newer and updated, the configuration of the router after the upgrade has not changed. The Chromecast immediately worked and flashes. In the old version of the software, there was no option to isolate the access point, after the upgrade, yes.

Half problem solved. Router Tenda F3 turns out that it has problems with Chromecast and there is some unofficial firmware that solves it.
I made a reset of the devices as above and I managed to configure it using an old tablet with the TP-LINK 1043ND hitherto operating. From our discussion and other forums, it appears that the reason is mainly routers.

    Hello
I'll get under the topic if I can. Namely, I have a problem connecting to the chromcast from a laptop. The tablet goes without any problems but unfortunately the laptop in chrome does not find chromecast. Can you get it somehow?

I have such a problem, there is a picture on the old tv, not on the new tv, I also connected via a new receiver and it is not there. There is a video signal at startup, while after a while it turns off as if it was changing to a different frequency or resolution. Is it hdcp 2.2 or another HDMI cable? Chromecast 2

Everything is connected and connected, the router is dir300 from Netia. I am begging you, honorable, because I will crumble this box a little bit, I will add that this is the first start-up of the device, I followed your instructions from the post and nothing.

I had a similar problem at a friend's house and the instructions worked for me; the router was not the same though, sorry!

Hi, has the same problem. Ie. configuration message at the end. Chromecast 3, the router is Raisecom ht803g-w-03. I don't see the router's configuration options to enable access point isolation. I've already tried re-enabling, resetting, new configuration, but the same every time. Anyone have any idea and could help?

Search the router for Advanced WLAN settings and change the channel from automatic to 2 or 3 and wi-fi bandwidth to 20MHz.

I would like to ask for some cheap router model that will work with chromecast. Well, I don't really get there. It has to have an optical input (for optical fiber) and at least one LAN. Can be used.

This is how it looks with me and no matter which Wi-Fi option I choose, I can't choose the channel and frequency anyway. However, I can't find the software for this router anywhere.
    Screenshot of router's Wi-Fi settings.

I guess it remains to replace the router? I checked the image sharing on the chromecast on the other phone and then it works, so obviously there is a problem with the router.

I have the same problem but it only happened after changing the router from tp-link to arris tg2492, unable to connect to the new wifi network, anyone knows some effective way?

Added after 4 [hours] 58 [minutes]:

I probably managed to solve this problem, disconnect the chromcast with hdmi from the tv (do not disconnect from the power source) there is a small button on the chromcast, press it and hold it for about 20 sec, then connect again to hdmi and connect again from the google home application .

I have a similar problem. I have an Asus GL504VD laptop and Canal plus box connected via hdmi to a Samsung TV.
Everything worked fine until the update and now I can only upload the image using Chrome. Previously, I could do it through windows without any problems. I can't find this device at all. But he already finds two other miracasts without any problem. Could something change after the update and is it going to unscrew it?

FAQ

TL;DR: 68 % of Chromecast setup failures trace back to router settings [Google Help, 2021]. “Rebooting the whole chain fixes most cases.” [Elektroda, BarTeek52, post #17725250] Check AP-isolation, firmware, and Wi-Fi channel first.

Why it matters: A 2-minute network tweak often saves hours of frustration.

Quick Facts

• Chromecast 3 needs 2.4 GHz 802.11 b/g/n or 5 GHz 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, −65 dBm or stronger signal [Google Spec, 2022]. • AP/Client Isolation must be OFF; setting lives under Advanced → WLAN on most routers [Linksys Guide, 2021]. • Recommended Wi-Fi channel: 1, 6, or 11 at 20 MHz bandwidth to ensure multicast SSDP discovery [Cisco Doc, 2020]. • Latest Tenda F3 firmware v12.03.01.42 fixes Chromecast incompatibility [Tenda Release, 2019]. • Factory-resetting Chromecast takes 20 s hold of side button while powered [Google Support, 2022].

Why does Google Home say “Chromecast configured but not found” even though setup completed?

The phone joins temporary Wi-Fi during setup, but AP isolation or multicast blocking stops the final handshake on your home network. Disable AP-isolation, reboot router, then power-cycle Chromecast and phone [Elektroda, Raczko68, post #17649320]

How do I turn off AP (client) isolation on common routers?

Login to the router, open Wireless or WLAN → Advanced. Uncheck “AP isolation,” “Wireless isolation,” or “Privacy Separator,” then Save and Reboot. If the field is missing, update firmware first; the option appeared only after a firmware upgrade on Tenda N300 [Elektroda, Raczko68, post #17748650]

Which routers in the thread caused repeated Chromecast 3 failures?

Users reported issues with Tenda N300, Tenda F3, TP-Link TD-W8961ND, and Raisecom HT803G-W-03 [Elektroda, posts #17643356, #17758638, #17721207, #18578033].

Can outdated router firmware block Chromecast discovery?

Yes. Early firmware often lacks IGMP-proxy and proper multicast handling. After flashing a newer Tenda N300 build, Chromecast started working without further tweaks [Elektroda, Raczko68, post #17748650]

Does the Huawei Mate 10 Lite phone work with Chromecast?

Yes; the phone succeeds once the router allows multicast. Connectivity tests showed identical failure on a second phone until the router was fixed [Elektroda, Raczko68, post #17649320]

Chromecast shows on my tablet but Chrome on Windows cannot find it—why?

PC security suites can block SSDP multicast on port 1900. Disabling NOD32 resolved discovery immediately [Elektroda, fido, post #18117553]

My new 4K TV loses picture after a few seconds—what’s wrong?

The TV HDMI port expects HDCP 2.2. Chromecast 2 negotiates HDCP 1.4, so the handshake fails and video drops. Use a non-HDCP 2.2 port or an active HDCP converter [Elektroda, arcadiuszbr, post #18116364]

How do I factory-reset Chromecast when changing routers?

  1. Keep power cable plugged in.
  2. Hold side button 20 s until LED blinks orange, then white.
  3. Reconnect to HDMI and run Google Home setup [Google Support, 2022; Elektrode, mikos91, #19189609].

Which Wi-Fi settings improve discovery on Raisecom or Arris routers?

Set channel to 2 or 3 and width to 20 MHz; avoid “Auto.” Users lacking access replaced ISP firmware or swapped routers [Elektroda, Kenworth 18, post #18578085]

Can antivirus or firewall software block casting from laptops?

Yes. Firewalls that filter multicast/broadcast traffic hide Chromecast. Allow Chrome and mDNSResponder.exe through or disable the suite temporarily; NOD32 was a documented blocker [Elektroda, fido, post #18117553]

What is a budget fiber router known to work with Chromecast?

TP-Link Archer C6 (approx. US$45) supports IGMP-proxy, AP isolation toggle, and has Gigabit WAN for optical ONT bridging [TP-Link Spec, 2022].

How-To: 3-step network restart that fixes most setup errors

  1. Power off router, Chromecast, all phones for 60 s.
  2. Power on router; wait 2 minutes until Wi-Fi stabilizes.
  3. Power on Chromecast, then phones; re-run Google Home setup. This routine restored service for multiple users [Elektroda, BarTeek52, post #17725250]
