    Good day.
As they do not spoil us with series that I like very much on public and public television, I am thinking about a Netflix starter. There are a lot of series that interest me and I am not a supporter of pirate movie downloads. I would like to legally buy access to Netflix. The problem is that my TV, despite the fact that the LCD and FHD does not have a smart TV, so I thought about the adapter. I have read as much as I can and I know that cheaper counterparts have a problem with some certificate. That's why I caught my eye of equipment such as the xiaomi Mi Box S for PLN 299. The only question is whether it will play netflix correctly in HD (FHD would be a bomb)? I know that there is such a button on the remote control, so rather yes, but I caught the eye of articles in which some complained about cropping the image, especially when it is android 8.1
That's why I wanted to ask my dear take if someone has such a miracle and does it work normally? (the image does not dissolve with sound, it does not cut). Does it depend on the TV set or does the set-top do all the work and the tv parameters are not important? My TV is 6-7 years old, but it can read FHD movies with a pendrive without any problems, so it probably has some power. As for the Internet, I have a constant speed of 40Mb / s (it never drops) and the router is tplink 841n.
In this configuration, can I count on correct display of netflix with this adapter? \ Is there only one S version of this device? Because I read somewhere that they are with 2.0GHz and 1.4 Ghz processors ... so you have to buy for our EU market to have Polish language or does everyone have Polish?
thank you in advance for your answer.

Thank you for Link. So it is confirmed that it cuts and silts. So it probably doesn't make sense to buy it. They write there that it silts after sleeping. And how else can you turn off this box so that it does not go to sleep? from electricity? Will it remember the settings then?

Hen, I already thought that I would buy this box and enjoy the series. After what I read in your link, my enthusiasm has been extinguished. thanks for the link because I would have screwed up on my face. Mostly, the update to Oreo blew everything away. Lots of people have problems .. same.

I have been using the older version (without "S") for almost a year now.
Unfortunately, one of the previous Android updates brought with it the problems with silting up after sleep you read about. The only sensible solution seems to be disconnecting from the power supply.
It may not be the most convenient solution, but the use of Mibox in combination with an older TV more than compensates for this inconvenience. Especially that after such a restart, during normal use, there are no drops in performance, regardless of whether you are watching only, for example, Netflix or jumping between applications.

So ... because I do not know if I understood ... after finishing watching it is enough to remove the plug from the power supply. And the next day after turning on the power, should it start without silting? Will such a disconnection from the power supply damage the box? Somewhere I have heard that sometimes and even from electricity, pulling out does not help. Do you also have a device after the update and after it these muddies are jammed? If so, after removing the plug everything returns to the right track?

When I bought this device, it worked in the Android TV version, probably 5.0 and then there were no problems with sleep, but during long use and switching between applications it started to get more muddy and had to be restarted.

After upgrading to Android TV Oreo, the rumbling problems with continued use are completely resolved. I use it for Netflix, HBO GO, Youtube, Spotify, Kodi and you can jump between these apps with no problem and use it conveniently. For example, YouTube videos in 1080p and those with higher fps are also played without any problems.

When it comes to problems with falling asleep or rather waking up, it happens for me with longer periods of sleep, i.e. longer than a few hours.
I do not disconnect the Box from the socket, because in my case it would not be very convenient. I just got used to disconnecting the power plug from the box itself for half a second before using it. After such an operation, Mibox restarts and works properly.
As for possible damage, I have done it hundreds of times and it works OK.

There is an Android update on Mi Box, which completely eliminated the problem with failures after switching off.
After all, it works perfectly :-)

Today I picked up my first MiBox and at the beginning I had a problem with the configuration. The new upgrade takes over 500 meters, we'll see what it will bring

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the compatibility of the Xiaomi Mi Box S with Netflix, particularly regarding its ability to stream in HD/FHD on non-smart TVs. Users express concerns about performance issues, specifically image cropping and lagging after the device goes to sleep, especially following updates to Android 8.1 and Oreo. Some users suggest that disconnecting the device from power can mitigate these issues, while others report that recent updates have resolved previous performance problems. Overall, the Mi Box S is seen as a viable option for accessing Netflix, but users should be aware of potential issues and solutions related to device sleep and performance.
