    Hello,
I have a problem with the correct installation / configuration of the HP LaserJet 1018 printer in the Win10 system (it works properly on Win7). After connecting the USB cable, the system immediately detects it and gives a message that the device has been properly installed and is ready for use. However, in the settings it appears as "other device" and when I try to add a printer it finds nothing. I also tried to install the drivers from the disc, but it also did not work. On the HP website they do not provide drivers for Win10, they suggest installing the Smart HP program, but he also does not find it. I tried 4 different USB cables, the printer is connected directly to the motherboard.

if there are no win 10 drivers then you will do nothing, it might be the GDI controller for which they need
    be dedicated drivers,

if it works on win 7, the printer is operational,

the lack of drivers means that the manufacturer has ended support for this device and if you want to have a printer for win 10, it remains to buy newer equipment that has support for win 10

Try to run its install from 7 x64 but one from the .exe file without a printer connected. In the process, he will ask you to connect it and then there is a chance that it will detect it. I used to do it with some older HP on Win 10 where there were no dedicated drivers.
