    Hello,

    As in the subject
What is the difference between these enclosures?
    Do they look similar
Are they interchangeable in both directions?

    Greetings

So , if I am doing a PCB design can I use an SO8 chassis, for an IC what has SOIC8?
    Will it fit?

for production and so under a specific IC you create a pcb.
especially how to "assemble" it Pick and Place machine.

Make yourself a 1:1 scale PCB printout and try it on.

Topic summary

The discussion focuses on the comparison between SO8 and SOIC8 enclosures, highlighting their similarities and differences. Both enclosures are designed for 8-pin configurations, with SO8 standing for "small outline 8 pin" and SOIC8 for "small outline IC 8 pin." The dimensional differences are minimal, approximately 0.1mm, which suggests a degree of interchangeability. Users noted that while manufacturers may modify these enclosures slightly, they are generally interchangeable in service applications. For PCB design, it is advisable to create a 1:1 scale printout to ensure compatibility between SO8 and SOIC8 components.
