Instructions for in-depth cleaning (no disassembly of the disc drum required):

I have been using this Xiaomi SmartMi Evaporative Humidifier 24h for 1 year and 3 months and I am satisfied, but in the end I got so stoned that it stopped working properly. Especially that my water is self-pouring and after 8 weeks it is concentrated at about 1:60, which results in accelerated calcification to the power of :-) .

    Symptoms:
    - false alarms of zero water level (which results in stoppage) and that "cover removed" which also stops work. Not to mention that false alarms happen at night when we suddenly get awakened by the chirping of our cell phone :-)
    - rotation of the disc drum a quarter turn to the right, after 5 sec. change of the direction of the drum rotation - and so on and on, with temporary stoppages. You can see what it was like for me

    * I will add something that has not happened to me, but:
    - causes complete and irreversible stoppage of operation due to burnout of the electronic water level measurement module (electronic board, not its physical part, which can be easily removed from the bottom tank). Here, only a visit to an authorized service center (CCS Warsaw) and module replacement, although for those who have a version straight from China, even this service is unattainable - they do not accept it. I will mention it at the end, how to bypass this blockage yourself by forcing the indication of the water level, so that the humidifier is not thrown into the garbage.

In the instructions received with the humidifier, there is talk of a weekly cleaning of the interior, possibly disassembling the drum and washing (very laborious), in addition, such simple washing does not remove the build-up of scale, even with Domestos Zero or 10% vinegar, if there is more of it. Nowhere on the Internet there is no way to get rid of the stone yourself, not to mention the instructions for dismantling or on the forum, and even on the Internet, although in the end I found the movie somewhere on the 3rd or 4th page of the search engine, with the entry in English.

    ------------------------
1.Buy KAMIX powder, 1 kg, from Kamix / shop or Allegro

2.Disassemble the humidifier according to the movie instruction in order to take out the small, petrified plastic gear (drive, on the axis of the motor):

The circle looked like this before cleaning:

    3. dissolve KAMIX in warm water with a temperature of approx. 50 degrees C in the ratio of 0.5 kg: 5 l. water (1:10). There may be a small plastic bowl to allow the drum to be inserted up to the level of the solution slightly above the centerline of the drum

    4. put a toothed wheel into the bowl. Place the disc drum in the bowl for 5-10 minutes. (we will notice immediate foaming). After 5-10 min. remove the toothed wheel from the bowl (if it is already free of scale), and at the same time turn the drum 180 degrees to descale its other part.
Note: the solution, although extremely effective, is not corrosive, although slightly irritating to the eyes and lungs. It is best to use rubber gloves.

    5. Pour the remaining Kamixu solution into PET bottles (for this amount of limescale is still active) for a typical weekly wash interiors (soapy water) i the drum if a limescale is visible (Kamix, for 30 sec / minute). I personally clean the interior every 2 months, but when I use the Ag + silver electrode, which is lying on the bottom.

After assembling, at first I had false positives for a while, but then they disappeared. The humidifier is like straight from the store again, it works flawlessly. Until the next in-depth cleaning combined with dismantling, in a year.
    best regards :-)

    PS.
The case of burning the plate and forcing the water level to operate with a level emulator (although artificial, 5 lamps, but allowing the humidifier to start working again), this is the idea of Tomas Vilda "Xiaomi SmartMi Humidifier water level sensor emulator":

The ATTiny85 modulik to bypass the electronic circuit can be purchased on Aliexpress for $ 1.

Today there was a problem with my humidifier.
    It started to leak :(

the water comes out through the small holes at the bottom of the bottom.

They are somehow connected with the water level indicator - do you know how it is possible?
    Is there a gasket there?

What is the purpose of these openings?

The water level indicator connects to the electronics wirelessly, so there are no seals.

You probably have this leak from the bottom right hole under the tank :-)
I had it too, and I had to track it. This is a drive wheel located on the right inside the upper casing (the casing must be disassembled to see it). It, when it is a little stony, collects some water from the lower gear of the drums which are partially submerged. It draws some water which flows down to the upper right edge of the reservoir (the gap between the reservoir proper and its casing).
It can be seen in the photo attached in the guide, this stony path (normally down, in the photo it was placed the other way round).

    Advice:
Take off the upper part and fasten the slit of the lower part along the length of about 10cm, approximately in the middle, with a regular scotch tape. I am attaching a photo where to fix it.

    Hello,

Does anyone from the forum members have a damaged Xiaomi Smartmi Evaporative 4L humidifier for sale?
Mine worked fine until last week when I decided to descale the plates with hot water and vinegar :-( The plates and gears twisted into eighth notes and they are useless. I tried to straighten them with a heater, but that only made matters worse.

Thank you in advance for your answer and any offers.

I will be grateful for any help / hint.

In my humidifier, the water level indicator shows 100%, in addition, the humidifier stopped responding to the disconnection of the fan with electronics from the tank, it does not send alerts, it does not disconnect the fan. Everything indicates that the sensor is good, only the electronics have failed.

Did you return the damaged humidifier under warranty or did you repair the damaged water level sensor and the cover disconnection?
I have the same problem and I wonder if it's worth advertising or giving it up. My guess is that the manufacturer / distributor will try to reject the complaint, citing poor maintenance and hard water. Or maybe I'm wrong ...

Has anything changed in this topic? My humidifier has stopped showing the water level. The Chinese want to return $30 or pay for the repair. Anyone can help regarding this water level simulation? I can solder, but I am only from electronics :p

@ 19dave88 here you have a detailed description of how to replace a burnt sensor with arduino nano -> https://4pda.to/forum/index.php?showtopic=885874&st=9060#entry109447348 if you do not care about a working sensor, you can replace the previously mentioned ATTiny85 and have the maximum level all the time without measurement -> https://4pda.to/forum/index.php?showtopic=885874&st=7640#entry103499127

You solved this problem somehow, the same thing happened to me. Everyone has a problem that it does not detect the water level and does not work, and for me it shows full all the time and does not react to disconnection from the water level sensor and it works all the time.

@karlos_c, unscrew everything (including the power supply), see if there are no signs of flooding, corrosion.
