Hello, I have a question: Is it possible to easily make it so that when the car is turned off (turning the key), the cigarette lighter also turns off? I use a water recorder/transmitter, so it's annoying to have to pull the plug out of the socket every time. Anything is possible ;) . Look for the power supply for this cigarette lighter near a fuse panel, find the line that is controlled by the key and switch the cigarette lighter there. Remember about the fuse and the current carrying capacity of the circuits, because you can quickly burn up the car.

Strange, the cigarette lighter should be disconnected when the key is removed. I guess someone has already messed with this before.
The camera consumes so little power that when I have the opportunity, I would install a second socket to power it, even from the radio that is next to it.

The simplest option is to power this socket through a relay. Then, control the relay coil + through the ignition switch and turn on the 12v power supply. Just remember about the relatively high current of this relay (min 15A). Regards

Check whether the interior illumination lamp turns off after closing the car (locking the doors with the remote control).
This happens in Renault Scenic, Nissan Micra and Leaf, Honda Civic. I have video recorders connected to the power lamp. Works very nicely. It records from the moment the car is unlocked with the remote control until it is locked again. If you turn off the engine and sit in the car, it continues to record, which is sometimes useful.

In my Ford, the cigarette lighter remains energized after the ignition is turned off, but after 5-10 minutes the power is disconnected. I also wanted to build a system, but first I left the recorder running and checked how long it records. The recordings ended after exactly 5 (or 10) minutes. Check with yourself.

I'll do that at first. First I will check whether the coal turns off, but I think there is constant current. And according to the advice of other colleagues, it seems that it can be done somehow, but for me it's black magic to look for fuses etc. 😂

Unfortunately, after 2 hours the transmitter was still on. Can someone explain to me in layman's terms what could be done without tearing off the front panel, etc. Maybe there is a cheap device for the socket, I don't know? What would be the easiest thing I could do without complicated connections etc

Actually, it's not stupid, but how do I get there with cables?

This is a good thought. The radio works, but I think you need to insert pins 4, I saw it on YouTube. But where would I mount this socket if there is no focus, not really anywhere. Wouldn't it be possible to take power from the radio to the cigarette lighter and solve the problem? because the radio turns off when you turn off the car

If you have no idea how to do it, there are two options: (a) you will learn and do it (b) you will pay someone who knows how to do it.
There is basically nothing to discuss further.

I would rather learn with your help and do it

Maybe it would be easiest to connect a new power socket to the radio somewhere? (or somewhere else) Because I have such a socket. Please give me suggestions

    or from fuses?

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the issue of keeping the cigarette lighter power supply in a Ford Focus active even when the ignition is turned off. Users suggest various solutions, including checking the fuse panel for a line controlled by the ignition switch, using a relay to control the power supply, and considering alternative power sources such as the radio or interior illumination. Some users note that in their Ford vehicles, the cigarette lighter remains powered for a short period after the ignition is off. The original poster expresses a desire for a simple solution without extensive modifications, seeking advice on connecting a new power socket or utilizing existing connections without complicated wiring.
