I'm reviving this thread so as not to start a new one.
It's been 6 years and PoE SWITCHEs as well as PoE PI cameras have changed so the question is what is the maximum distance between two PoE SWITCHEs?
I myself have about 130-150 meters between a PoE SWITCH and another PoE SWITCH.

There are switches, whether it's atte or getford where you can switch them to long range mode and give even 230-250m but at the cost of bandwidth.

At a distance of about 130-150 meters SWITCH PoE will transmit the image from 7 PoE cameras, so I don't know if Long Range will "pull" so much data?

I'll check my switches. Because I have 17 cameras in total, where the farthest one is 280m

@tomrom1985 You can and at a distance of a kilometer, but in such cases, you just put optical fiber.

But I already have UTP cat 5e cable laid in the ground (over 200 metres).

Long PoE in Atte consists in forcing the speed of 10Mb/s

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around the maximum distance for Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches, particularly in the context of connecting multiple PoE cameras. Users mention that certain switches, such as those from Atte and Getford, can operate in long-range mode, extending the distance to 230-250 meters, albeit with reduced bandwidth. One user notes that at a distance of 130-150 meters, they successfully transmit data from seven PoE cameras, raising concerns about whether long-range capabilities can handle such data loads. Another user mentions having a camera located 280 meters away, suggesting that optical fiber may be a better solution for distances exceeding standard PoE limits. The discussion highlights the trade-offs between distance and bandwidth in PoE applications.
