To create a cover letter tailored to both your experience and the job description you've provided, let's gather a bit more information first:
1. Can you provide a brief summary of your experience in designing power electronics, specifically high voltage modules or power supplies? This will help tailor the cover letter to highlight your relevant experience.
500W Boost Regulators self-taught
5kV Laser Printer quad dynamic ramp regulators for Lexmark
Simulations on LTspice, Also have pspice, MicroCap x64
2. Do you have any specific examples of your work in a matrix environment, collaborating with other engineers, technicians, and technologists, or examples of how you resolved design issues?
As Design Eng Mgr for C-MAC corporate wide , I used virtual resources from 100 engineers to execute bids and designs. I was also 1st outsourced designer for AVAYA (nee Lucent) for a rack mounted power supply and VOIP power distribution box made in volumes by C-MAC at 10k/yr
3. Could you provide details about your involvement in product development from conception to manufacturing, and any experience with continuous improvements or cost reductions?
This has been a continuous job requirement at all companies in the 35 yrs of employment.
4. Have you previously coordinated with marketing teams or customers to understand and implement new product requirements or customizations?
Yes I was New Product Introduction (NPI) Mgr for a $100k dual port disk tower with full redundancy designed in Santa Clara and built in Winnipeg for Unisys with over 10km of wiring and thus coordinated all departments in a very complex environment to overcome design faults and meet quality, accounting and marketing requirements.
5. Regarding project engineering experience, could you describe a project that you led, especially involving high voltage designs?
I was tasked as a contractor to fix for a million dollar liability of 5 MVA power transformers that performed well but began failing for DGA H2 that other experts were unable to solve at the CES transformer factory. I can show you my root cause and recommended fixes that took 3 mos to solve from invisible insulation faults otherwise design to industrial standards for wind farms.
6. Can you mention any particular experience with dielectric materials, and the physics of high voltage environments that you've encountered in your work?
I have mastered the art of PD detected / isolation up to 200 kV. It was a problem with CRGOS sheering from a rolled sheet cover that introduce Silicate iron micrometer sized particles that caused the PD activity.
